After graduating from law school, he worked at a large real estate law firm and a medium sized employee rights law firm in Tampa, Florida. In 2016, Ryan moved back to Berlin, Maryland and passed the Maryland Bar Exam to work with his uncles, Ray Coates Jr., and Randy Coates, before they retire as lawyers at Coates, Coates and Coates. Ryan is a member of the American Bar Association; the Maryland State Bar Association; the Florida Bar Association; and the Worcester County Bar Association.
