Mr. Stein has extensive experience advising businesses on the intricacies of U.S. Federal and State tax regulations and advising  non-profit charities on the intricacies of Federal tax regulations and State charitable regulations. Prior to starting his own law firm, Mr. Stein was a member of Sheehan Phinney Bass & Green's Tax Group where his practice focused on advising clients on various tax aspects of transactions, LLC and partnership formations, and financings as well as advising clients on non-profit formation and operations. Prior to joining the Sheehan Phinney, Mr. Stein was a tax attorney with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in Boston, where he represented public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity offerings, fund sponsors in private equity fund formations, and non-profit organizations in formations and operations.​Mr. Stein has real-world experience running a family business in addition to his experience providing legal advice to clients. Mr. Stein was born into a tax family, starting his tax career as a teenager while copying tax returns at his father’s CPA firm in Pleasantville, New York. After college, Mr. Stein joined the family tax software business, Pencil Pushers Tax Software, where he not only learned about taxes but also the intricacies involved in running a growing privately-held family business.
