As an in-house corporate lawyer, I found Russell's approach to be refreshingly pragmatic and efficient. He was careful not to churn the file even with multiple associates involved, struck a good balance using aggressive litigation to steer the other party toward alternative dispute resolution, and identified and retained a terrific mediator. We ended up settling the case for an amount that was appropriate under the circumstances, while reasonably controlling our legal costs - a result that I could make my corporate colleagues feel good about (as opposed to their resenting outside counsel fees).
