I own a family business with 20 employees. Jennelle is the person I contact when I need someone I can trust to give me advice. She has assisted with contracts, environmental, injury, and criminal. I can trust her because she is rarely wrong and she has the highest level of integrity. She is sensitive when you are in a tough situation and is always looking for the win for you. She is very mindful of costs which make me trust her more. Jennelle paints a picture of all the possible outcomes and says which is the most likely to occur. That outcome is usually correct. She will tell you when you are screwed also. There are never surprises. Overall, Jennelle is very well rounded. She will be my "go to" person.
After my arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol on February 15, 2009, I contacted Jennelle Johnson through some friends of mine. She was very polite, professional and thorough. It was quite embarrassing for me to be in that position but Jennelle handled the situation with grace and without judgement. I appreciated her calling me back with the information and in a way that I felt she really cared for me and the situation I was in.
Jennell represented me on a domestic violence criminal case back in 2008 and did an outstanding job for me. I have had quite the criminal record accumulated in my youth and have never had an attorney go the extra mile as Jennell Johnson did. I would highly recommend her for anyone facing criminal proceedings.
Plea peddlers, no better way to describe my experiences with this law firm. They will maneuver you into taking a plea deal, she will tell you to waive your speedy trial rights every single time, and she will make it sound like you have no chance of winning even if you have a good argument. I made the mistake of listening to her advice and accepting a plea deal that has cost me dearly, in every aspect of my life. She is trained like a salesperson to look for every opportunity to convince you to take a plea and get it done quickly. She made excuses, she yelled at me, she was impatient and never explained anything in detail without having to be pressed over and over and over. She doesn't want to do the work of actually defending her clients because it doesn't help her make more money. She has kids, so she's obviously has to provide for them, she even told me as much. She said she makes 400 dollars for every misdemeanor case win or lose, and 600 for every felony. So obviously the faster she plows through these the more money she brings home. It's not entirely her fault either, it's the system. They extort defendants by hanging giant sentences over their head and saying "well, you know if you lose, you'll have to do X years but if you take the plea you'll get out in a week or a few months!" REGARDLESS of the fact that you know you're INNOCENT! Or that you can win! She will not look out for you she will try at any chance she gets to pressure you into taking the plea no matter what. Working with her was awful, like I said she yelled at me a lot, she was abusive, she judged me for decisions, she lambasted me constantly. All while doing next to no work for my case and the work she did do was like pulling teeth! I doubt it would make a difference if she was hired or not. She was my court appointed attorney. IF She is your court appointed attorney QUICKLY fire her and get a different one, no one could be as bad as my experience with Ridehalgh & Associates. Trust your gut, I wish I had, because my gut over and OVER was telling me ***FIRE HER!*** but I was so depressed by her constant barrage of negativity that I didn't do it and now I'm paying the price, my life is completely ruined due to the plea I took. I can't find work, I'm homeless, my life has gone to hell. I was innocent, I TOLD HER I was innocent and she KNEW I was innocent and what did she do? She sold me the plea.
Not sure about her abilities if hired outright, but as a public defender, she absolutely works for the State of Oregon and will likely not have your best interests in mind. In my experience, she had misguided the course of my family's case to intentionally extend the length of the ordeal. If we had gone to trial, the State would have had no ground to stand on because of the IMMENSE AND OBVIOUS LACK OF EVIDENCE. However, Jennelle pressed for an admission, avoiding a quick trial, siding with the State, and intentionally misinterpreting the details so it didn't sound so bad. I suppose the thing to remember with Jennelle is that she should be working for you. If she is assigned to your case, you may remind her off that. Unfortunately, I was unable to do that. Otherwise, request/hire another attorney, because she will not be on your side.
She sucked. She was horrible. She made me loose everything because she refused to take time on my case, me and my family. She caused great hardship for me and my family. If you get her as your attorney run!
Jennelle has represented me in a case of child abuse against DHS. She didn't provide me with the legal advice that helped me. The advice could be summarized in deferring to DHS and waiting until the child is 18 or 21. I am not sure if working as a legal representative on no-cost basis was the reason to her poor performance, but she didn’t make any difference as a lawyer in my case. I would not recommend Jennelle as an attorney .
Jennelle was a public defender provided at no cost to me in the child abuse case about a year ago. Since Jennelle was paid by state, she represented state agency interests, not her low income client or the children, unfortunately. She said nothing about my strong defense arguments, which she promised me to do before the trial. Instead, she focused on meaningless details, allowing the social worker to accuse me in undisputed manner of the things which I did not do. I could not even say anything, because a person cannot talk freely in the court while having a lawyer. Jennelle promised me to present certain facts and documents in the court, but then broke her promise and said something totally different. She portrayed me as guilty person who admitted her fault, even so I did not do anything wrong. She refused to call my witness who specially came to the trial to testify in my favor. I got impression that her role in my case was to silence my voice, so social workers can take kids away easily.
