Attorney Ron Cooley has a reputation for success in criminal defense – one that carries weight in legal circles, with business leaders, and throughout the community because he is highly competent and honest. This is the result of his involvement in numerous high-profile cases involving complex legal issues and individual rights in NC. More methodical than mercurial, he is known for his diligence and long working hours, and returns phone calls and emails with incredible speed. He understands the legal issues of each case, and his drive is to be the best. I have hired Ron Cooley to defend me in two complex cases in Orange County, NC and I am extremely grateful for his counsel. He truly is a hard driving defense attorney.

Attorney Cooley: Is very professional and a dedicated lawyer. I retained Attorney Cooley on a short notice with only one day to prep. I was amazed and happy with the outcome. I strongly recommend Attorne Cooley.

Mr. Cooley has been my attorney for the last couple of years. He is very, very good at what he does. He is very up to date with laws in North Carolina and in family and personal law as a whole. He will always be my attorney and I have never had a reason not to refer him to friends for their legal issues without a doubt. He is very compassionate and caring when it comes to his clients and their legal affairs.

Mr. Cooley represented me in a very difficult fight with my ex over custody of our children. He kept his focus on what was good for our children no matter how much my ex and my ex’s lawyer tried to twist the case into personal battles between us. I really appreciate how he worked to diffuse the emotions and keep us on track! I met with other attorneys before hiring Mr. Cooley. I hired him because I liked his “no bull” attitude, how he would fight when necessary — but ONLY when necessary, and because of how his retainer spelled out exactly what would be done and how it would be charged. All the other retainers I looked at were legalese gobily-gook that didn’t explain what I wanted explained. I recommend him completely if you have a case that may need a fighter!

I had an unfortunate run-in with a client that Mr. Cooley was representing. I had no money to pay for my own lawyer and was very worried about the situation. I gathered as much evidence as I could and presented myself to him in the best possible manner. Mr. Cooley achieved getting me, and his client, a result that satisfied us both. The best thing was, he wasn't even representing me, and not once did he use any of my information to twist or exacerbate the situation. It was nice knowing that the stereotype of lawyers 'twisting everything,' did not fall within our realm when it came to working with Mr. Cooley. I appreciated his time that he took on more than one occasion, to listen to me, whilst working quickly to resolve the conflict. I'd recommend this lawyer to anyone that wants a fair and honest lawyer. Cheers to you Mr. Cooley. Solid work.

After explaining what happened with me, Mr Cooley immediately understood without hours of tedious explanation. He 'GOT' it. Without personal specifics, I'm very satisfied that he did exactly what I needed done. I finally have what I consider a Lawyer who is tough, as a Lawyer needs to be a 'Hired Gun' in a sense. Pertinent to the review is this man has a Brilliant Mind. He is the kind of thinker that if he can't get to the solution from one path, he will try another and then another. That is the kind of Lawyer I want. For whatever I may need in the future, I'll go to him, I like how he thinks. You get the strong feeling he is On Your Side. If he has had admonishes from the Bar in the past it only goes to prove exactly what I'm saying here.

Once I paid his very high fee in full, the level of service dropped so low I had to hire another attorney to finish the work Mr. Cooley was hired to do. When asked for a rebate he told me I should pay him more. If you hire him, do not pay until the work is completed.

Not a great attorney. He was very disorganized in court, and did not seem to have the respect of the judge, or his colleagues. He was at times rude and abrasive. After being under prepared for our initial hearing, he wanted to charge even more for a later court date. He suggested I get a second job in order to afford his outrageous fee! He was unresponsive to my phone calls. Our only preparation happened 1 hour before court. It was a huge mistake to hire.

As stated on prior reviews here and on various other review spots on the web,he is a very rude person. He only seemed interested in his personal life whice included martial arts and game hunting.Very unresponsive to calls, emails, etc. When in court,he acted as if he had no clue what he was actually doing.Needless to say I was forced to basically fire him as my attorney and eventually found another who actually cared about my case and actually paid attention to facts. A word to the wise would be to steer clear of this law firm.

I met with Mr. Cooley a few months ago and paid $250. I didnt hire him and for good reason. He was very rude and demeaning and made me very uncomfortable. He wouldnt let me talk about my case at all. Every time I tried he interrupted me and only wanted to talk about himself and the other cases he's won. The whole reason I was there was to talk about my case not listen to him brag about himself. Also he was rude to his assistant. He kept making rude comments about her and to her about her not doing her job when she was the only one who was listening to me. Whenever I did say something about my case, she typed it and she's the one who got all of my information. And he didnt tell us he had been sanctioned twice. I looked him up online and found that out after the meeting. He did tell us that he had been charged with assault on female twice! I honestly feel like I paid him $250 to tell me his life story and listen to him complain about his assistant. I mentioned his name to a couple of other people who are involved in the court system one way or another and they all told me that I really dodged a bullet by not hiring him! Hopefully my review here will help somebody else dodge the bullet too!
