My husband and I lost everything when the market crashed, we were both unemployed, and we were upside down on our mortgage. The lending bank wouldn't work with us and we had a major medical issue where the hospital chose to sue us. Mr. Wieckowski explained our options to us and helped us in the midst of all the upheaval of going through bankruptcy and foreclosure and moving. He was able to help us keep a sense of humor while being professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. He and his staff were always cordial and welcoming.
During my consultation, he was more interested in pointing out flaws in my financials often cracking jokes at what I consider poor and circumstantial mistakes of the past. At one, point, he decided that my endeavors of running a personal business should have been called an "expensive hobby". He also failed to adequately explain the chapter 13 intricacies, and many details that were glossed over. As a consumer, I would have hoped that my legal counsel would make an attempt at educating me as much as possible instead of labeling me an "abuser of the system". Mr. Wieckowski has been part of the political theater that is the California legislature since 2010. Unfortunately for me, this means that I have no direct contact with him when I need legal advice. As a result, I must work with his paralegals, which may or may not answer my emails at their leisure. I cannot in good conscience recommend him to other consumers, and would advice that they not consider filing consumer bankruptcy.
