My shortened account is that I was arrested for DUI and promptly hired an attorney with a very impressive and informative website with seemingly reasonable rates. It didn't take long to realize that this attorney was only interested in making a plea deal with the D.A. even though I made it clear up front that I planned to fight the charge. Fearing that I might not be able to afford an attorney that would actually work aggressively for my interests, I decided to fire this lazy attorney and fight the case myself. In hindsight, I really advise against this. I lost and was found guilty. Fortunately, while in court, I met a prominent attorney who recommended Bob Bettenberg as a last resort if I was in a position to appeal the guilty outcome. I decided to take the risk since I knew the facts existed to prove my innocence. Mr. Bettenberg carefully gathered the facts of the case from me and filed an appeal. We won! The conviction was reversed and the court was forced to refund all paid fines. I believe that there are few attorneys out there that will work this hard for you. I paid most of my fees up front, which is always scary. Mr. Bettenberg continued to work diligently on the case right up to the end. He cares about his good reputation and you as a person. Don't hesitate to hire him.
This man shows true attention to details, very professional and handled all of the necessary paperwork required. He let me know what to expect and when and where to report with ample time to prepare. Mr. Bettenberg minimized negative actions in my case and was results driven. He didn't set unreasonable expectations, but did better than what I expected. He was recommended by a friend that had a great outcome of his situation so I decided to meet him. He even met me on a Sunday when I needed him to do so. I would call him again if the need arises in the future. Pricing was very reasonable.
I have spent the last year dealing with numerous charges that Mr. Bettenberg has helped thwart. I found him to be thorough in his research and very prepared to deal with the opposition. He is fluent with the court system and judicial jargon that comes with it. He was adamant in educating me (the client) in all of the possible scenarios---good or bad, but honest without reserve. I found this extremely helpful as many tough decisions were required along the way. In court, he was relentless with questioning and / or cross examination , ultimately proving lack of evidence or bogus testimony delivered by the opposition. He was so prepared in court, the DA struggled all day, searching for the next move. The officer's testimony in my case was impeached by Mr. Bettenberg's cross examination. I was treated with honesty and fairness through the entire process with Mr. Bettenberg . After the court process was complete, Mr, Bettenberg was very helpful providing guidance in tying up all of the loose end paperwork that comes with the court processes. This guy is GOOD.
For anyone who has experienced the misfortune of an arrest, and must now deal with the DMV and Colorado court system; I unequivocally endorse Bob Bettenberg to provide not only competent and thorough representation, but to also deliver an invaluable source of confidence when facing the frightening and intimidating environment of DUI/DWAI law, prosecuting attorneys and indifferent judges. Bob knows the law and how to protect the rights of the defendant. His skill and deep expertise proved invaluable to me in my successful DUI defense. The jury found me "Not Guilty!" on each of three separate charges including DUI and reckless driving. There is no question that without Bob Bettenberg's skill in presenting the facts and demonstrating the inconsistencies of the arresting officer, the jury would have simply believed the officer and found me guilty. I know from my own research that Bob Bettenberg has achieved unparalleled success and an outstanding record as trial attorney for the defense. As Mr. Bettenberg communicated to me early on in the proceedings, each case has its own unique characteristics and facts and circumstances shape the defense. He knows what motions are important, what facts are relevant, and most importantly how to present this information to a jury. Well intentioned but misguided legislation has resulted in a process that is stacked against the ordinary citizen with negative outcomes for those without competent representation. It is extraordinarily more challenging for those with prior convictions from earlier days. In my case, a DWAI plea bargain more than 28 years ago placed me in extreme jeopardy under the aggressive legislation and severe penalties introduced over the past several years. The consequences are severe and fortunately for me, Bob Bettenberg's professional and organized approach gave me the confidence to reject a last minute plea bargain by the DA and proceed with a jury trial. I remain thankful for his support.
2yrs with this Attorney and I don't know any more about my case now than then. To date, we've never spoke on the phone, not even once. You will be left hanging and confused, and in the dark about your case. His communication is the worst ever, because he doesn't. This attorney will let the chips fall where they may, he will not fight, defend nor give you proper counsel to say the least. My first statement was way longer, I actually used all of the available characters for the writing. But, I hope you get my message. Run, don't walk away from this attorney.
Horrible lawyer hands down.He called me nemours of time a week when I owed him money but, as soon as I paid him off he wouldn't return my phone cals or anything for weeks until a couple days before court. He's goofy and I don't think he really cares about his clients. Asks you what you think should happen in the case. And just wings it in the court room, hell even in the court room he didn't even know my name while he was talking to the judge!
Stay as far away from this lawyer as you can. I would not recommend him to my worst enemies. Everything that could go wrong with a lawyer happened in my case. He failed to have any sort of effective plan and seemed to "wing it" at every phase of trial. He was devoured by the DA and was unprepared at trial I was utterly embarrassed. He never objected to any of the DA's questions and let the witnesses off the hook with poor questioning. He might need to retire from law if that was his best effort. Sometimes these lawyers get too old and don't care about their clients and show up to collect a paycheck. Bob is ineffective and not worth the headache. Hiring him is as good as pleading guilty. He managed to lose my case with zero evidence and a bad witness testimony. Save your money and look else where.
