About
I have enjoyed a diversified employment law practice for just over 40 years. My career began in the Virginia Attorney General's Office in 1978. Before I left to enter private practice, I had argued cases in all of Virginia's 127 jurisdictions and courthouses. My second case ever was in the Virginia Supreme Court, shortly after my 25th birthday.I have had the pleasure of representing varied private sector employers and both public and private institutions. These have included service as General Counsel to the College of William and Mary, School Board Counsel for the Cheasapeake, Virginia Public Schools, and representation of manufacturers, financial institutions and both small and large businesses, all affording leadershop roles in handling legal matters.I enjoy consulting with clients to avoid the expense and time away that results from litigation but have also litigated when necessary over the years. I have worked hard to achieve recognition and rapport with courts and several agencies with jurisdiction over my clients, including the EEOC, Virginia Department of Labor and Industry and the Virginia Employment Commission. In spare time, whatever that is, I have been a Division 1 college baseball umpire and a high school basketball and swim referee. I play golf, although rarely, enjoy travel, and root for the Univeristy of Virginia sports teams. I am married with two grown daughters. I enjoy serving on various boards and look forward to continuing my law practice
