About
I am passionate about helping my clients with whatever matters most to them. I help healthcare professionals facing DEA matters, licenseing matters, criminal charges, and forfeiture matters. I have had the honor of being licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan since 2003. After law school, I clerked for just over 2 years in the 3rd Circuit Court in downtown Detroit conducting legal research and preparing opinions for circuit court judges on topics ranging from antitrust to zoning. I then represented clients from 2007-2012 as a solo practitioner in East Lansing. Although I had a general practice, I concentrated my practice primarily in criminal law and family law. From 2012-2017, I defended clients charged with drunk driving and related charges as a member of the Barone Defense Firm team.I find my work very rewarding. I get to put my biology and psychology degrees to work alongside my law degree. I am very proud of the difference that I have been able to make in the lives of my clients. I have represented clients in district and circuit courts in over 40 counties across the state of Michigan from St. Joseph to Petoskey and Cheboygan to Monroe, and I have earned the respect of judges and prosecutors throughout the state by zealously and ethically advocating for my clients.

I recently utilized the services of the Chapman Law group. Specifically, I employed the legal council of Rob Andretz to represent me on a legal issue that in my opinion is driven by somewhat archaic laws being enforced by the DEQ. Rob is a thoughtful and well versed attorney who was able to navigate through this legal issue I experienced in the Grand Traverse area and the 86th District Court through perseverance and clear understanding of the legal system. I appreciate that Rob took the time to thoroughly research the details surrounding my case as well as opportunities to present options that met my expressed outcome when we initially discussed my case. After understanding my concern and completing his research, Rob successfully worked with opposing council to mitigate my issue and arrive at a favorable result for my case. I would highly recommend Rob and the Chapman legal team.
Healthcare Professional in-training with a limited educational license. Charged with DUI, first offense. The details of the event were not in my favor, as the situation was an accident involving a stop-sign and a BAC of 0.13. I was completely at a loss about how to proceed after this happened. I was worried about my professional license, career, everything and anything. I researched lawyers and came across Mr. Andretz pretty quickly. His knowledge of the legal system was demonstrated by setting reasonable expectations for me given my situation, educating me on the process patiently, communicating with the court and the prosecutor on my behalf, and then preparing me for sentencing. He was thoughtful, empathetic, super flexible and available for all of my anxious questions. He takes into consideration who you are, and makes sure the court understands your character. He encourages you to take the appropriate steps prior to sentencing, while anticipating what the court and LARA may ask of you. He stays ahead of the game in order to put you in the best position. He also submitted my charges on my behalf to LARA, as he was familiar with that as well. I ended with a reduced charge, no points on my license, no probation, and no jail time. I recommend him strongly and faithfully. Initial Charge: (Operating While Intoxicated). Reduced Charge: (Allowing an Intoxicated Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle). Court (65A District Court in Saint Johns)
I received a call from a LARA investigator stating there was an allegation against my dental license. I found Chapman Law Group searching online and had a phone consultation with Mr. Robert Andretz. He is very professional and knowledgeable! Because of his hard work, I was able to have the opportunity to participate in a supplemental interview with the investigator! I have received the letter from LARA this week. They have determined that a violation of the Public Health Code cannot be substantiated. The investigation is being closed! I am very grateful to have reached out and hired Rob as my attorney!
Rob was a life saver for me in my time of need. I was very nervous and had no idea what to expect throughout my situation, but Rob explained everything to me every step of the way and had me prepared. The board of nursing and HPRP can be very intimidating, but Rob’s years of experience and knowledge regarding the process made things go smoothly. Super grateful to have reached out and retained Rob as my attorney!
I contacted Rob after receiving a threat from a hospital that hired me through a third party agency for a travel nursing contract. My original start date had gotten pushed back after I found out alarmingly my documentation and my paperwork required for the job position was not submitted properly for the job by my travel agency. After trying to comply with keeping up to date with required documents, I had realized to comply with the full truth my visa not failed to show the accurate information regarding the contract information that was issued to me by the American border patrol through NAFTA. the original message I received from the chief of nursing from the hospital was what had happened to me was enough to form a formal complaint to the board of nursing because I could no longer comply with the job contact I signed to work. terrified, I contacted Rob who wrote a formal letter to the agency and the hospital almost immediately after I received the email. He immediately made my case a priority to stop it from escalating and spoke up on my behalf as my legal representative. At the beginning of everything, he would check in with me and update me on how things could pan out from his knowledgeable experience with nurses having to deal with boards for formal complaints, but as the weeks turned into months we kept in communication in points of time where we carefully decided together what was the best for the situation. after 2 years Rob signed off on my case when no formal complaints were made against my license. Rob remained kind, thoughtful, helpful, and was very calming and trusting in a very high anxiety, moment in my life where I felt like things were going to get really bad. I recommend Rob to anyone, he is truly the best at what he does and wants the best outcomes for his clients. I am so grateful for Rob's support during a rocky time in my life and I know I am not the only one. Thanks for helping me move forward during a difficult time in my life with your knowledge and background. I would recommend him to anyone in the same situation, who needs someone with articulate knowledge and expertise on nursing licenses related issues.
I had a great experience with Rob Andretz with the outcome I was hoping for. Thank you!
When I put myself in a bad situation I felt lost and had no clue how to proceed. While on vacation with my family I was arrested for disorderly conduct-drunk and taken to jail for the night. I had almost no recollection of the night before and am thankful that I was treated well by the officers involved. The next morning, I desperately searched for a local lawyer that was experienced in criminal defense. I hired this lawyer the day I was released. After several days, I got up the courage to look into what problems this charge might cause with my professional license. I found out the repercussions could be severe and long lasting. I found Mr. Andretz after contacting the Chapman Law Group through an online search. I was able to speak with him immediately to discuss my case and what was to come. After speaking with him I made the choice to change counsel and hire him. This was a smart decision. This all occurred at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Andretz traveled a significant distance to the 86th district court for the first 2 court appearances to be there in person with me. As this was the first time I had any experience being charged with any crime he took the time to explain the process and walk me through what I needed to do. At the first court date we discussed what I could do to positively impact my case and we decided I would voluntarily get an alcohol monitoring device to be used twice daily at home. He also instructed me to get a substance abuse evaluation and was able to provide me with options on where to easily obtain this. At this point the courts closed due to COVID-19. This slowed the pace of my case significantly. My thought was this would negatively impact my case but Mr. Andretz, due to his significant experience, was able to use this to my advantage. This delay allowed me to have people with daily contact with me to write letters of recommendation and to show that I was not drinking any alcohol. Mr. Andretz worked hard to contact the prosecutor, court, and others to discuss what my options were and to suggest that the court take into account all of the positive information that he provided to them. As my case progressed, Mr. Andretz also helped me to address questions that I was required to answer for liability insurance and renewals with insurance companies. In the end, Mr. Andretz called me the day of the final conference that I was to attend on zoom to inform me that the prosecutor had agreed to dismiss the charge. Although the case lasted nearly a year, it is due to Mr. Andretz and his hard work that it was resolved with such a positive outcome for me. I believe that if I had not had a lawyer with experience and knowledge of health care law, then the case may have been completed more quickly but ended with me being convicted and being required to report this to the state. I encourage anyone in a similar situation to seek representation by Mr. Andretz. At many times during the case he was able to help reduce my anxiety and give me a realistic view of what was to come. He was honest, kind, easily contacted, and knowledgeable during all stages of my case.
I received a letter from LARA stating there was an allegation against my professional license. Chapman Law Group has an excellent reputation for defending medical professionals, including physicians like myself, in these cases and they came highly recommended to me by a colleague. Receiving that letter in the mail was one of the worst days of my life, but after I called their offices and they connected me immediately to a phone consultation with Mr. Robert Andretz I felt like I was in good hands. He clearly explained the process to me and communicated with me the best way to put together documents and testimonials to put together the best defense against this allegation. He prepared me for the interview with the investigator as well. Yesterday Mr. Andretz contacted me with excellent news- he received a letter from LARA which indicates that my professional licensing investigation matter is being closed and that no action is being taken against my license as a result of the investigation. This means that there will not be an Administrative Complaint entered against my license and I have Mr. Andretz and The Chapman Law Group to thank for this positive result. I have recommended another physician with the same allegation to The Chapman Law Group. I would highly recommend any health care professionals to use attorneys that specialize in concerns specific to healthcare professionals like Mr. Robert Andretz.
When I had my professional health license suspended I was in a panic, unsure of what to do. After speaking to Rob I felt comfortable with his guidance. He has been great and was able to have my suspension overturned allowing me to return to work. Would highly recommend Rob
I had a DUI (my only) in Michigan from 2015 that I reported to the board of nursing past the 30 day window (I self-reported it on my license renewal out of ignorance), and recently had an Administrative Complaint against me over it. I was worried about having something written on my nursing license stating that I failed to report my conviction. Robert was very thorough in addressing my concerns, and followed through with his promises (while being very clear on what would most likely happen, and what most likely not happen). He did not sell me dreams or raise my expectations to unrealistic outcomes, but instead was open and honest. My actual DUI was short lived and ended with me pulling the car over, parking and sleeping in a parking lot, however because my keys were in the ignition while I slept (in January) it was still a violation. I don't have any previous issues with the law and had great work experiences and references, and i'm pursuing graduate education. (I explain all this so you have background knowledge on what type of case the board was deciding on). While the Administrative Complaint could not disappear completely, Robert worked hard to make sure the notes on my complaint reflected a long list of my character, positive attributes, and accolades and not just the irresponsible decision I made that night. Furthermore (and more importantly), the outcome of the complaint was that I was found guilty of only receiving a DUI (and thus breaking the public health code) but was found NOT guilty on a failure to report charge. This was a huge victory for me because I already I have to report my DUI with every professional/career move I make, so reporting solely the DUI in the Administrative Complaint (and not a "failure to report" on top of that) is a win for me and my future. As written in my title, he is a little pricey, as he charges for every email and phone call he has with you, regardless of the length. But all in all, I got my money's worth and have no complaints. I would rather this outcome with a larger fee, than a more negative outcome and a decreased fee. You get what you pay for people. Thank you so much for all your help Robert, I appreciate it!
