I used Rick for a dui case, he came highly recommended, I was looking at some harsh sentencing. He was sharp, caring, and very knowledgeable. He worked court room as if it was his. Well respected by the Da and Judge. Rick fought for me as if I was a friend. Very good results...extremely professional experience. Money well spent, I will be using him from here on and would recommend his services to my family. 100% Rick! Thank you.
My brother got sucked in to assault and battery charges by his wife (it was a push-no injuries). Rick has been helpful, sympathetic, and successful as the conviction was a minor charge and probation. We are now using him to process the divorce proceedings. I think he is knowledgeable, helpful, full of energy, and has a good report with the judges and prosecutors.
Sure I would recommend him. To my ex-wife. He cant win a case unless hes the plaintiff attorney. Too short to be effective so he uses other tactics. Not to well prepared but well liked in the court. He shows his hand early, be patient with him, he gets tired and quits.
Hired him a couple years back for a marijuana charge. He advised me to accept a plea offer that would sentence me to years of probation and felonies on my record at 19 years old for marijuana. Seeked out other consul and eventually got charges reduced to a misdemeanor. His big "win" is that I was lucky to avoid jail time...
Mr. Tompkins was assigned as my Public Defender in my DUI conviction. I got the book thrown at me after the officer said that he was going to drop my refusal charge & then didn't. Mr. Tompkins did not fight that point for me. Thanks to Mr. Tompkins I have 5 years probation on top of a 90 day jail sentence! I am now serving weekends in MCCF. I am half-way through & I asked that my days be changed to 2 weekday days b/c I was laid off from my job & my unemployment is going to end soon. I have to support myself. Every job that I am qualified for requires you to work on weekends. I ask Mr. Tompkins for help in changing this for me. He talked to me like I was an uneducated street thug or career criminal. I'm guilty of driving under the influence & of using bad judgement at the time by the way this man spoke to me, it was as though I should be grateful that I got the sentence that I got. You would think that he is working for the District Attorney instead looking out for my best interest! By the way I am a 58 yr old woman & I am not saying that I shouldn't be punished for my crime but let the punishment fit the crime! I've talked to people that go in on weekends at the correctional facility & their sentence isn't anywhere near as harsh as mine! Thanks Mr. Tompkins for NOTHING!
After pushing my support hearing back twice (I was homeless with 3 kids at the time) he FIRED me a week before my hearing because he didn't appreciate my friend and myself wanting to ask questions. Asked me to leave. He then sued me for money, when we had a verbal agreement that I would pay him when I received my ENTIRE property settlement. Going to Norristown now to pay him so I can get the lien off my house and be approved for college loans for my daughter............... He said "No hard feelings" YES THERE ARE!
I will try to sum up my experience with Mr. Tompkins by quoting another officer of the court. " Mr Tompkins at best failed to diligently represent you and at worst lied to you outright." Do not waste your hard earned money by engaging him to represent you.....unless you really like to burn money and want to lose your case.
