About
I have committed my practice to representing individuals facing the loss of liberty due to criminal charges. I have served as an intern with the Appellate Division of the Colorado State Public Defender Office and in the Brighton Trial Office. I went on to represent thousands of clients in the Golden office of the Colorado State Public Defender. I have represented individuals charged with a multitude of offenses including minor traffic offenses, driving under the influence all the way up to felony theft, violations of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, homicide, and sexual assaults.I transitioned to private practice in 2018 and I have continued to represent individuals charged with all levels of criminal offenses, Additionally, I have represented clients seeking relief pursuant to Crim. P. R. 35(c) based on new evidence or ineffective assistance of counsel claims in cases that resolved in pleas and in cases where the defendant was convicted at trial. I have also assisted individuals in reclaiming their lives through sealing prior felony convictions that have hampered efforts to obtain employment or housing.I bring a holistic approach to her practice and believe it’s important to not only understand all aspects of the law and trial practice, but also to obtain a full understanding of my client’s personal history and the possible collateral impact a criminal conviction might have on the individual client. I understand the importance of having an advocate fully explain the process and provide support along the way during what is certainly one of the most stressful situations an individual endures.

Rachel Oliver is the best attorney I've ever had. She was working for the Jefferson County Public Defender's Office at the time. This was my fourth DUI in a lifetime , My last DUI was 20 years ago. I went to AA and treatment and I have been sober for over 2 and 1/2 years. She believed I took responsibility for my actions and I was ready to take the punishment I deserved. I was also looking at a extensive jail sentence, but I ended up with a much shorter sentence. I have had other attorneys over the years that I actually hired and paid. I have never seen or heard of a public defender attorney fighting so hard for their client. I know they are so overwhelmed with clients.. but despite that she spent a lot of time meeting with me and treated me with respect and courtesy. Rachel really cares about all her clients . I feel I owe her so much. I would hire her for anything at any time. I have recommended her to anyone I know that needs an attorney. I would never hire any other attorney except for her! She goes to bat for you, and fight as hard as she can for you. She really, really listens to what you have to say. I could go on and on how great she is , but I would run out of room. I thank her sincerely from the bottom of my heart. Corrinne Ostermiller
A year and a half ago, my 19-year-old daughter was arrested and initially charged with 18 charges, one of which carried a mandatory sentence of life without parole. I am so glad we hired Rachel. Her and her team worked so hard for her, overturning every stone, peeling back every layer. She fought for my daughter to the very end and we were so fortunate that through her dedication, my daughter was sentenced to probation. Rachel is truly passionate about what she does, and her work and results are a direct reflection of that. She is kind, straightforward, honest, has great people skills, great communication skills and she does not fear or avoid hard work. I know she had her work cut out for her with this case and we are so grateful she was the attorney placed in our lives. I pray we never have to go through anything like this again, but if any of my friends or family are ever in need of a criminal attorney, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend Rachel.
