About
Thank you for visiting my profile on Avvo.com. Please also visit my webpage at www.philmapleslaw.com. As an attorney and in life, I make it a point to get to know the people I come in contact with. I would like to let you get to know me a little better as you make the important decision on an attorney that fits your needs. I was raised in the small town of LaFayette, Georgia, and I am one of three children of Kenneth and Doris Maples. I attended Jacksonville State University in Alabama and obtained a degree in criminal justice. It was at Jacksonville State where I met my excellent wife, Emily, and we have been together ever since. Emily and I now reside in Prairieville, Louisiana, with our dogs, Scout and Stanley. My first career I worked as a parole officer in Atlanta, Georgia. That experience gave me a passion for the justice system and a desire to impact the lives of people. As an officer, I realized that many good people get caught up in difficult situations and often need legal assistance to get life back on the right track. I had aspired for several years to attend law school, but it was the continued encouragement of Emily and the perfect timing of God that gave me the opportunity in 2009. After being accepted to multiple schools and visiting many of those schools, Emily and I traveled to the LSU Law Center. Immediately, we both felt a connection to the school, the Louisiana people and the culture. We have made Louisiana our home ever since. I graduated law school from LSU and passed the bar in 2012. Since graduation, I have worked in St. John Parish as an Assistant District Attorney, Ascension Parish as an Assistant District Attorney and started the Maples Law Office, LLC. It was in St. John where I met my mentor and friend the late Tom Daley. Mr. Daley instilled in me a dedication to always make time to listen to everyone no matter how small or large the topic of conversation. As a prosecutor in St. John, I focused on probation revocations, felony drug prosecutions and the prosecution of violent offenses including murder. I started a community service program, a pre-trial diversion program and an employment initiative for ex-offenders. After Mr. Daley passed, I obtained employment with the Ascension Parish District Attorney's Office. Ascension Parish is where Emily and I live and the location of my civil practice. I started The Maples Law Office, LLC to focus on Estate Planning, Family Law and Personal Injury cases. I have experienced firsthand the great number of people that need quality legal advice in these practice areas. Whether you are planning for the future and need a will prepared, struggling with the present and need counsel on how to proceed in Divorce or you are injured due to the negligence of another, I would like to help. I strive daily to provide dilligent, affordable representation. Please contact me to schedule a telephone or in person meeting to discuss your legal questions.

I'd never met or heard about Phil Maples until he was recommended to me to handle some family/financial legal business that would take several months to navigate through and resolve. What I've learned is Phil is that rare person who is not only a skilled and detail-oriented attorney, he's as affable and down-to-earth as anyone you'd ever want to work with. He meticulously reviewed and analyzed everything, including the other attorney's draft court filings, in which found and corrected more than one error. Phil has a firm grasp of the law, but researches and makes sure he has the fine points down pat. Phil clearly and patiently explained things to me every step of the way, making sure I always understood what was at stake and what would be required. Phil's advice and Even better, he remained pleasant and down-to-earth in all his dealings, including with the other side's attorney. He was also appropriately respectful yet assertive in court. Basically, Phil obliterates the myth that lawyers have to be mean or hyper-aggressive to be effective. He achieved everything I wanted, and his fees were surprisingly affordable. Affordable, hell, they were a bargain for what he achieved. Oh, and to top it off, the guy is a Georgia Bulldogs fan in LSU country. You talk about being effective AND diplomatic in hostile territory.
I am so grateful for Phil's help during a stressful time in my life. Not only is he knowledgeable, he is so friendly and was always quick to respond to any question I may have had. He made what I thought would be a stressful process so smooth and easy. He really went above and beyond for me in my time of need and I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of legal services. He's definitely the way to go!
I can not say enough about how much I appreciate Maples Law Office for helping me during a difficult process. I was treated with respect and kindness which aided in reaching a settlement we were both satisfied with.
He did a great job on solving my Lazers retirement problem and done it in a timely manner. Would use him again if needed. Hopefully I won't need him soon.
Phil did an excellent job protecting my rights concerning a prior divorce/retirement account while making sure I remained within the laws requirements. He did an outstanding job negotiating with the opposing counsel which ensured my liability was less than it could have been. This, coupled with his gracious demeanor made my interaction with Phillip a surprisingly good experience for what could have been a nightmare
I was referred to Phil through another attorney that didn’t handle cases in Livingston. I was in dire need of something to be done with custody for my son. Phil spoke to me like a friend more than a lawyer giving me advice through a consultation before I made any commitment. He genuinely seemed to want to help me resolve my case. Didn’t make me feel like just another paycheck. He advised me on what he believed to be my best interest and showed up in court and even offered to cancel some appointments if I needed him to stay longer than usual time it took to get a resolution to my case. He was very easy to get a hold of throughout the entire process and was very quick to respond to emails, texts, and voicemails. He didn’t seem to be weighed down or overburdened by a huge caseload like some attorneys that you rarely can get in touch with. He went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and have peace of mind the entire time and he got me results. His rates are very reasonable compared to a lot of attorneys. I’d highly recommend his services and will be using him again should the need arise. Thanks again Phil.
Phil Maples has been representing me during my divorce process. He has been very helpful and I can truly tell he is passionate about what he does. He doesn't sugar coat anything, he is honest, and trustworthy. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I feel very lucky to have found such a great person to represent me in such a difficult time of my life.
My husband and I are landlords who took our tenants who broke a lease to a JOP court case without an attorney, and we won. However, representing ourselves was extremely nerve-wracking, and my anxiety was heightened even more when we found out our tenants were appealing the ruling to Ascension Parish Court. Recommended by a friend from church, Phil Maples made us feel comfortable about our case and the upcoming trial from our first consultation. He was very open and honest, did a great job distilling all the information, and because we would have to take the witness stand, took special attention to prepare a sheet of questions in advance for us so we could feel ready for the big day. Even though I am diagnosed with anxiety and take medication for it, I felt extremely calm during my trial as Phil asked me the questions he had notified me about in advance. He did an amazing job presenting our case, and we won! My husband and I are so thankful that we didn't decide to go it alone at court and instead trusted Phil to guide us every step of the way. In fact, because Phil was so great, we're now going to be working with him to update our Revokable Trust. I highly recommend him.
Phil drew up paperwork and filed documents in a timely and professional manner. I wouldn’t hesitate to call him for any other matters.
Phil was great through and through! He was very helpful on every question we asked and he listened to every issue we had. He gave us the best, easiest and least-stressful experience we could ask for!
