After I filed my complaint for dissolution of marriage pro se, my husband retained a “fathers’ rights” attorney who quickly turned our case into high conflict litigation. Because I knew that I needed an excellent family law attorney to move forward, I called Mr. Philip Katz, a Martindale-Hubbell Preeminent Lawyer with an AV rating, the highest level of professional excellence, skills and integrity. Although I was a mess, Mr. Katz patiently listened my concerns and immediately started work on my case. Based on his vast experience and knowledge of how the judge might rule, Mr. Katz developed a legal argument that made it likely that the judge would rule in my favor. Opposing counsel came out swinging, but Mr. Katz, calm and persistent, presented the best legal argument and judge ruled in my favor. For these reasons, I highly recommend Mr. Philip Katz to anyone looking for an attorney to represent them in a high conflict case. In my opinion, he is a Rockstar Litigator.
I was dealing with a divorce modification regarding parenting time and child support, and my case spiraled into unnecessary complexities while working with another attorney. After 1 year of unresolved issues, I contacted and hired Philip. In less than 3 months, Philip was able to button everything up and it ended exactly the way I hoped. His knowledge and experience is key to his efficiency, and his tactful communication skills are unparalleled. Philip was always very responsive, and told me exactly what I could expect.
I like how Philip is direct and straight to the point, and used his experiences to educate me on the process. He knows the system and how it works, and that gave me the confidence to get through this difficult time in my life. He gave the process a personal touch and I knew it wasn't all about the money for him. He guided me along the way. He made the divorce process as bearable as possible, with knowledge and information about what was next, and more importantly, he was compassionate and specific to my situation. He talked TO me, and not AT me. He gave genuine answers and responses, not generic bs. Thank you Philip.
Philip is very knowledgeable regarding all aspects of divorce and I felt confident that he had my best interests in mind throughout the process. He was able to help me navigate the unique circumstances that come with a military divorce and ensure that all necessary items were completed. I'm grateful to have had Philip and his team working on my behalf.
oing through a divorce is something I would not wish on my worst enemy! Regardless of how you came to this point you must find a lawyer who can understand what is truly important to you. This is the most important first step. You then have to assess whether or not this person is willing and capable to meet you where you are and to address your needs. look no further!!! Read this whole post, but look no further! Philip was my second attorney, yes I said second! It is only because his referral came after the time I needed to hire my first attorney. From the initial visit to final detail. Philip listened to my concerns and was prepared with the qualified team and resources to move my divorce forward in the manner needed. While he was honest with me that there were things done by my previous attorney that were some of the same things he would have done. He was able to move past that and share how he would proceed and who he would engage as a part of the team to make the changes needed on my divorce. Philip's connections, respect from his peers, collaboration with other attorneys, push for experts and overall drive to make certain that the outcome was what I needed for me and my family was is ultimately what set him apart from others. I interviewed 3 attorneys and put them all through the ringer of questions regarding legal situations, case law, study/evaluations, and true grit. Philip exceeded my expectations in the initial meeting. Shortly after bringing Philip onto my case, it was apparent that we were not going to go through the motions and that he saw things for what they were and began to "right the ship"! Ultimately, my case went to trail. It was not because we wanted it too but because we had too. This is where Philip again set himself apart. The countless hours of preparation. The attention to detail. The chess match was on and during trial Philip was prepared for everything the other side had and then some. The divorce process is the most agonizing thing a person can go through. You must have the right legal team to achieve your desired outcome. You need someone who knows the law and when to use it in your favor. Philip did this and engaged expert psychologists, forensic accountants, and the correct blend of witnesses to support our case. What you need in a lawyer is not someone who wants to "win at all costs"! What you need is someone who will be empathetic when needed and to be level headed at all times because you yourself will get in your own way (it's inevitable, it happens) and want to make decisions in an emotional state and Philip didn't allow that happen and he also told when I was fighting for something that just didn't make sense. Lastly, going through a divorce is complicated, emotionally and mentally exhausting. You can not afford to just roll over and accept terms from the other party that are not equitable terms. The money I spent throughout this process it extremely painful, however the long term ramifications of a bad deal far outweigh the short term financial pain! It was and is worth every penny!!! Respectfully, Matt
I have rarely needed a lawyer, so it was a little intimidating at the beginning. Philip Katz and his entire team made it very easy and convenient. They answered all of my possible questions and helped guide me through the entire process. He was very timely in getting all of the paperwork completed and submitted. He assisted and helped me determine the best possible outcome for my situation. He brought up many points that I didn't even think of. He made a very stressful and uncomfortable situation as easy and good as it possibly could be. Thank you again Philip for all of your help and assistance!
Philip Katz is an outstanding lawyer and he did an exceptional job representing me in my divorce. The one thing he did that stands out, is he prepared me very well for what was coming in court. His knowledge of the court system and the staff in the court house allowed him to explain in detail what was going to happen before it did. He also explained how the process works and I was very prepared and I was not shocked or worried about what my spouse’s lawyer did because Philip told me how the judge would see what was happening. He easily maintained his professionalism with my spouse who was very difficult and defensive on the stand. Philip was calm and courteous during his cross examination and he led her to say what was necessary for the decision to go my way. He had her easily admit to things that I thought she would never say. I was lucky to have had Philip Katz represent me during my divorce and I couldn’t recommend him higher.
I came in to their office shattered-30 years of marriage, gone. I was not given any guidance, I had no idea what to expect. It took waaaay too long. I had given them a reserve of money, I found out I shouldn't have trusted them to be good stewards of it. I learned a lot, I was told what I could have, by the law, portions were then retracted, stating that it would be unreasonable-I wasn't ever quite convicted he was watching out for me.
His bills arrive like clockwork but to get him to return calls or emails is hopeless. No clear plan or direction for how our case will proceed. During the initial consultation he tells you what you want to hear. Once you become a paying client the communication stops but the bills don't. It is amazing how his actions, or LACK of action, can make you feel so defeated and it just shouldn't be that way. There is a reason(s) this attorney is no longer with the power house firm he use to be with. There is a reason(s) he can't hire competent assistants.
