I consulted Mr. Paul for my divorce case. I found him, very knowledgeable, Excellent in his law skill and very kind person. He will explain you every thing you need to know and understand your case. He will NOT misguide you. He is very responsible attorney. I highly recommend this attorney. If you are looking for an attorney, DO NOT look any more. Please consult/hire him.

I worked with Paul on my 2006 divorce. He was very thorough and explained to me the benefits and risks of my position. We came up with a game plan and stuck to it. As a result, I came out with the best settlement I could get for a reasonable fee. He can be very frank and direct -- he is not going to coddle you, hold your hand or sit there for hours while you complain about your spouse or plot revenge. He simply knows NY divorce law, how the courts work, and based on the facts of your situation, will develop a strategy to help you get you the best outcome.

Did worse than nothing. Filed costly complaint, then withdrew it, then quit. Billed me 50K for 3 months of long rambling crazy letters and worthless conferences and calls. He preys on women who were in abusive marriages and knows how to manipulate you by seeming sympathetic, then turns to control and denigration. He also knows how to manipulate the system and the judges. Steer clear.

My former spouse hired Paul Van Ryn years ago as his divorce attorney. He cost my former husband a fortune over the course of 13 years, probably one of the the longest running divorce proceedings in the history of upstate New York. He encouraged my former husband to bankrupt me which he did. But I'm still standing and would like to warn people that he will destroy your family while taking your money. He will tie up Family Court for years with documents that are full of lies. He even wrote me a personal letter that if I did not pay my former husband child support WITHOUT A HEARING, I would lose my house and the opportunity to see my children. This petrified me so much that I went to the Bar Association with an exact copy of the letter but they did nothing. To this day, my son thought it was just "a tactic." Threats and financial abuse are not "tactics." They are extremely effective ways of destroying your family and if that's who you want to hire, I can only hope that "karma" will resolve your issues. I hope people can find better ways to dissolve a marriage than revenge.

This lawyer was my husband's attorney in a contentious divorce. He was unscrupulous in all that he did in these proceedings, compelling my lawyer to have to respond to increasingly outrageous yet ultimately unfounded claims. It cost me a fortune to respond. Even though the judge accused him of 'churning the file.' he persisted in doing so. My attorney "won" but this attorney's shenanigans cost me dearly. If you have no scruples and want to cost your partner big bucks and 'win' at ANY cost, go with this attorney. My lawyer proceeded civilly and ethically against this attorney, and that cost me. If you are so bent on destroying your spouse that you are willing to lay down with dogs, this is your man.

I had a similar experience with Paul Van Ryn. he basically cost me 10,000 dollars within 3 months of doing nothing but sending email upon 4 page email insulting me, repeating himself, not doing what I asked of him and ended me up in a family court fiasco without any separation or divorce in sight. He basically was more concerned with what other attorneys and judges thought of him than fighting for his client. He disclosed the fact that he is separated as of last year, and I feel he completely has issues with women at this point. I would not recommend him at all even though he has 28 years of experience (which he will tell you every time you speak with him). I got more results with an attorney I used for 3 weeks than I did with him in 3 months. Apalling to say the least.

I would not recommend this attorney to anyone who needs a divorce attorney. He treated me very poorly and cost me almost 1 year's worth of salary in less than 6 months of time. He obtained no results for me, but made a lot of "promises" he didn't follow through on. I also could never contact him without it costing me an arm and leg and him claiming how stupid I was, and I have no results to show for any of it other than an empty bank account.
