While attending Penn State University, I was involved in a DUI related incident. After seeking a Public Defender, Patrick Klena was assigned to my case. As a college student, unaware of a DUI court process, I was intimidated and nervous. It did not help that graduation was around the corner. However, Patrick Klena eased every fear, and assisted me throughout my case. My B.A.C. was a .079, right under the legal limit, but I was still arrested and charged. Of course this was unfortunate for me, but the assistance and support Klena provided for me, was more than I could ask for, from a attorney that I did not pay a penny for. He advocated on my behalf, and aided in me being placed on the ARD program. He was very responsive to my questions/concerns. Now as a graduate, I am having problems finding a job, and i believe it is due to this record. However, he is continuing to help me. He is offering his help in providing documents explaining that my record will be expunged in May, as long as I comply with the terms/rules of the ARD program. He has even offered to speak with any potential employer I have, if they question this DUI charge. For him to go out of his way like this, is a gesture I will always remember. This man is a Public Defender, so he earns less income, I assume, yet he treated me as if I were paying him a million bucks. Patrick Klena has my up-most respect.
