I hired attorney Pat Hammergren as a father who needed help with my divorce and child custody case after an unpleasant experience with a local female family law attorney, who was absurdly and ridiculously expensive, and I saw nothing being done temporarily or permanently regarding my case. Mr. Hammergren has worked with me on the payments and he has been very vigorous in his pursuit of my interest as a father and also for my children's best interest. Mr. Hammergren set an immediate hearing on temporary support, timesharing and living in the martial home and got my case completed in a very timely manner. I've never met an attorney who gives his client's his cell phone number and was always responsive to my "emergency" outcries. He has been overwhelmingly attentive and sympathetic to my situation and I could not have been more pleased with the outcome. I WOULD RECOMMEND ATTORNEY HAMMERGREN TO ANYONE who needs help with a divorce, child support or custody. He is very reasonable and incredible in court.
This man is a straight-up crook. He has MULTIPLE Supreme Court cases AGAINST him, disciplining him for ethical reasons, and lots of unhappy "clients". His "Paralegal" was a joke, and he never, **NEVER** gets back to you unless you threaten him via text messaging. I finally had to make a complaint to the Florida Bar against him, and apparently, my case was the last straw. Now he has (another!) Supreme Court case against him in Florida to try and dis-bar him. He took my $2,000 retainer fee, knowing he was going to be suspended, and still took my case, and then proceeded to meet with me and talk to me in a lawyer/client relationship while he was suspended. BIG no-no! Now I am fighting him trying to get my retainer fee back, since he did absolutely NOTHING on my case. I am in danger of losing my children to my Ex because of this man. Before you hire *any* attorney: RESEARCH them through your State's Bar association FIRST!!!! Make sure they don't have any disciplinary action against them and that they are ethical! Interview them-see where their loyalties lie-are they friends with all the Judges/Magistrates/your opponent's Attorney? Or are they on YOUR side?! They are supposed to be un-biased too, but I have found-in talking to 9 (NINE!) different attorneys *after* this guy that some of them were friends with him, or the Magistrate, or my Ex's attorney, and didn't really like what I had to say about the whole thing. So guess what? I kept walking! Lawyers are business people just like anyone else-they want that retainer, so some of them will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you into their office to sign their paperwork! (Like this guy). I only wish I had done better research before, and I might actually have my kids back with me right now, instead of going through all this legal mess! BEWARE OF THIS GUY FOR AS LONG AS HE IS STILL LICENSED!!!!! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM HIM!
Overall my experience with this lawyer has been iffy. Trying to get in contact with him is like pulling teeth and when I asked him questions he either never answered them or gave me a half-ass answer. He was great during the actual trial (even though we lost) but afterwards when I've tried to contact him he hardly ever answers and when asking the status of things he says "Havent heard anything but I'll try tomorrow" he never gets back to me. Wish I would have hired a different lawyer and didn't waste $4000 on a divorce/child custody case (which he claims he never saw a penny of).
