Mr. Burpee helped my Husband and I with a very confusing legal situation. He was very patient with us while explaining everything we needed to know and the best course of action to take. He clearly had our best interest in mind, regardless of whether it benefited him or not. If we ever have a similar issue in the future, we will absolutely be seeking his counsel.
I was at a loss when I was served papers by a debt buyer claiming I had opened a credit account and wasn't paying on it. I felt extremely embarrassed and taken advantage of as this claim was severely affecting my credit. Finding Patrick was the best thing I could have done for myself. He took the time to listen to everything I said, asked questions without judgement, and created a case for me against this debt buyer that I was deathly afraid I didn't have a chance at winning. Not only did he get the case dismissed but I was awarded attorney's fees, something I really didn't believe we had a chance with and is what I believe to be quite rare. More important then the money, this fixed my credit score. I would absolutely work with Patrick again and solidly recommend him.
Hello Patrick, My wife and I wanted to tell you how much we appreciate the work you've done, and even more so in how genuine and transparent you have been throughout the process. At the beginning my wife was pretty freaked out about being whacked with a six thousand-plus dollar bill in the event we had no defense, but conversely freaked out about what would happen if we elected to seek representation...we've never done that before and I think we both always thought that was something only rich people could do. So we kind of felt stuck between a rock and a hard place. I am certain that she took what she felt was a huge risk in trusting me to determine whether or not to, and if so who, we should hire for representation, and we are really happy with who we picked to do it. So in a nutshell, we really appreciate you also caring about our side of this when its all said and done. Just wanted to share that with you.
My husband and I hired Patrick to pursue an acquaintance who refused to pay back a substantial amount of money owed to us. It turned out that our debtor had moved to another state, so he could not be served in Washington. However Patrick went way beyond the call of duty in pursuing him, and obtained enough information about his whereabouts to enable us to continue with the lawsuit in the other state. Patrick is knowledgeable, ethical, thorough, conscientious and extremely pleasant to work with. I recommend him highly!
Do to some business relationships in my past, I found my self in need of a lawyer. Being a novice at dealing with dept collectors, Patrick had the knowledge and was able to settle my problems in a short time. He save me a lot of hassle and headache, he was professional and kept me informed step by step though the whole process. If you need help with debt collectors Patrick is your lawyer!
Patrick went above and beyond for us. We had a debt collection case in which we received a summons to court. We owed, the debt collector said, nearly $13 k, however, Patrick quickly determined the debt collector hadn't followed the law and, to make a long story short, we were awarded $6k from the debt collector to settle out of court. Wonderful job, Patrick!!
It has been a few years but Patrick represented me and I was very pleased. He was very professional, his fee was reasonable and the matter was handle quickly.
I found Patrick by an article he had authored online about re-opening cases involving summary judgements and what can be done. I think I had one of the weirdest cases Patrick has ever had - certainly the defense we went with was obscure, unique and creative involving multi-party lawsuits and the time limits for hearing defendants. At any rate, my case involved a frivolous suit filed against which turned into a summary judgement. Further, I found out about the suit way past the period in which I could reasonably defend or overturn the judgement. Believe it or not, the judgement was never entered for collections nor did it ever show on my credit report - this I guess never happens. I only found out about it after a title report was run while trying to sell my house. Needless to say, working in a regulated industry, I had to get this off my record. Moreover, I had a fixed timeframe in which to get this off my record so the sale of my house could proceed! I was very aggressive and wanted to explore any and all avenues. Patrick diligently did so and he ultimately found a couple avenues based upon the state of the lawsuit, the fact that opposing counsel was still the named attorney on the case as well as some of the technical issues involved with the filing of the case - length of time I could respond to a suit with multiple parties. I gave Patrick my budget and he came in at the amount he thought it would cost. There were several complications beyond the age of the case. One being that the person suing me had been serving time for fraud and racketeering and was named in another fraud case against the government of America Samoa and so was quite possibly in a federal pen. Net he was impossible to get hold of. Patrick was also able to find a way to get this case heard without the normal requirement of servicing. Another complication was the opposing counsel was hostile and was filing additional counter-claims against me and Patrick. Very very messy. Long and short, Patrick's defense was amazing. So much so, the judge summarily dismissed the judgement without even needing to hear oral arguments. From what I understand THIS NEVER HAPPENS. WRT Patrick's advice and bedside manner I always felt that Patrick was my "practical" partner in this debacle. He never made me feel dumb nor did he mis-state our chances for success. If anything Patrick was too conservative in setting my expectations as he really didn't want to spend my money in a losing cause. Patrick would say I had big b***s to even pursue this but I knew that with Patrick's help we stood a good chance of winning over a judge. As Patrick would say, we didn't necessarily have the law on our side but we had the facts and Patrick pounded those facts hard. Net, I have a business and I would love to have Patrick as my general counsel... unfortunately he is not generalist but specific around debt, collections and cases like mine. It also makes it hard to forward people to him but I would in a second if a friend had a similar issue. The BIG positive here being that he is an expert in his field.
I contacted Mr. Burpee via email and presented a synopsis of a collections related issue that remained unresolved for nearly 18 years. He responded promptly with a telephone call. Like several other attorneys I had contacted previously over the years, Mr. Burpee was not interested in taking the case himself as he feared that it would cost much more to collect than I could recover. Still, Mr. Burpee did a little research on my behalf and gave generously of his time to advise me on how I might pursue the collections matter myself. The information that he provided was easily understood and helped me understand my various options. I'm happy to report that Mr. Burpee's advice helped me get my "ducks all in a row" and I was able to recover the several thousands of dollars that I was owed within approximately 2 months without having to take the matter to court to recover. Many, many thanks, Mr. Burpee!
I received a collections summons from p&d credit bureau in September of 2013. With only 20 days to respond to the summons, I immediately began searching for an attorney to represent me. After talking to several other attorneys, I decided to hire Patrick, and boy am I glad I did. He performed well above my expectations and made a very frustrating situation seemingly painless. He was very aggressive in the presentation of my case, and delivered what I would consider to be the best possible outcome. I really can't say enough good things about the service I received.

Burpee!
