After a previous attempt by another legal firm to create our estate plan, with very little satisfaction and completion, we heard about Mrs. Shumaker and her firm. We decided to proceed with her to formulate a current and complete estate plan. In addition to just the estate plan she went above and beyond to organize our finances accordingly with just the results we were hoping for. Her ability to explain all of our issues in understanding terms was invaluable to us. Our experience with Mrs. Shumaker has been absolutely fantastic and we would highly recommend her to anyone seeking estate planning.
My husband and I met with Tricia to create an estate plan. She explained everything to us with great detail and in terms we could understand. It was a lot to absorb for us but she guided us through every detail and we were given clear instructions on what we needed to do to get everything in order. We were then given copies of all our documents with instructions to read through them. We meet in 1 year to review our plan and follow up with any changes needed. She was wonderful to work with and made us feel very at ease throughout the process.

We had recently moved from New York to the state of Massachusetts and learned through our CPA that our Will and Health Care Proxy was no longer valid here in this state. He highly recommended that we set up an appointment to meet with Patricia in handling our estate planning. In meeting with her, we found Patricia to very professional and extremely knowledgeable. Compared to New York, we were unaware of the many different estate planning laws here in the state of Massachusetts. Patricia was very patient and thorough in explaining detail in every issue and answered all of our many questions and concerns. She took the time to fully understand our needs in planning our estate. She was also very kind, genuinely caring, and trustworthy and made us feel very comfortable in knowing that we made the right decision in retaining her as our attorney. She guided us through the process from start to finish and in doing so, we developed a wonderful working relationship. Without a doubt, we highly recommend Patricia for your estate planning needs.
Patricia is a very knowledgeable, thorough, patient and pleasant attorney! She created and completed my entire estate planning. With all the complicated legal terms and situations, she explained in detail every issue and answered all my questions so that I could understand. She provides examples when there are various options - which make my decisions easier. She always follows up with any questions and is extremely helpful to ensure that we (as clients) understand fully. Patricia is also very caring, takes great interest in her professional work and yet is down to earth. There are so many laws relating to estate planning and Patricia is always up to date with the latest rules and regulations. I am so grateful and thankful for Patricia's professional guidance, patience and her time in developing my estate planning and reviewing every year for any updates, changes, etc... that may be needed to make in any of the numerous documents. Although I may be one of her younger clients, I have peace of mind that my legal affairs and estate planning have been completed. You are never too young to have these important documents done. I consider Patricia as my "legal guardian angel" now! Patricia is truly an outstanding, knowledgeable and professional attorney! I strongly recommend her to all!
Patricia was very thorough and patient when reviewing our estate planning situation. She was thoughtful and very caring in her approach and made understanding what was needed and why regarding how our estate should be set up.
She is an excellent elder law attorney and genuinely cares about feelings and concerns for my elderly parents' needs. My case is very complicated but she has the expertise to handle all the complications. She is always there to answer questions and does not charge extra to do so and did not even charge for the long initial consultation. I checked into other attorneys but I'm glad I chose this one. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants an attorney that is caring and knowledgeable.
Attorney Patricia Shumaker has been enormously helpful to our family. Ms. Shumaker has a wonderful ability to demystify a complex area of law and finances. Warm and accessible, she helped our 93 year-old mother and my siblings and me to understand the range of options we had that could help her stay at home despite her growing need for care. As things have evolved, she’s listened, she’s cared, and she has provided expert guidance for each subsequent decision, getting back to us immediately with very thorough and clear information and a roadmap for action. We have all told friends with aging parents about Tricia and the help we have received, and will continue to do so!
I initially went to PYWL after attending one of the seminars to develop and estate plan for my wife and I. After meeting with Patricia, I realized my mother also needed and updated will, as well as health care proxy, and P.O.A. I brought my mother to see Patricia and she could not have been more kind and understanding in dealing with my mother, who at the time was suffering from memory loss. After getting her estate plan in place, my mother's condition worsened, slow at first, then more rapidly. I met with Patricia again at she developed a plan of action for me to follow. With her guidance, I was able to get my mother into a nursing home, and get her the financial assistance she needed. Unfortunately, my mother passed away this year. Patricia was there for me once again, as I had questions about various matters regarding her death. Patricia's intricate knowledge of elder care law is amazing. She guided me through every step of the process. Every time I called the office, Tricia either answered the telephone herself of called me back that day. She is truly dedicated to serving her clients. Tricia and I never knew each other before this and I feel as though I can trust her implicitly and have made a new friend. I can't recommend her highly enough! Paul
Estate planning is natural extension of real estate law but a field in which our firm does not practice. Regularly, questions arise in the representation of a client that require the skillful eye of an estate planning attorney and in other instances, very simply, our clients have not contemplated and therefore have not thoroughly prepared for THE issue that no one wants to think about. In these instances, our firm always recommends Atty. Shumaker because very importantly, we know that when we hand over our clients to her, they will be well cared for as she is skilled, knowledgeable and thorough in her analysis.
