About

If you are reading this, there is a chance your family is hurting.  You may even feel lost and unsure. Perhaps you know exactly what you want or need but are not sure how to move forward to achieve that result. I want you to know that you don’t have to walk this path alone. This is just one chapter of your story that will later become a prelude to the new beginning you are creating for both your life and your family.  I am here to provide you with the legal options and support necessary to put you in control of your situation and to write your story however you see fit.I’ve always been one of those people who believes that things just have a way of working themselves out. Some of my colleagues call it delusional, but I like to call it faith! But, I know this faith won’t always come easily, particularly given the transitions that necessarily comes with separation.  I recognize that you must have the right information and the right strategy to create the best opportunity. After graduating from law school at Mississippi College, it was my desire to be in the courtroom and my passion for helping people that led me to become a state prosecutor.  As an assistant district attorney in Mecklenburg County, I represented victims of domestic violence for years – prosecuting crimes ranging from the violation of a protective order to attempted murder.  This experience allowed me to work with families while providing me with an intimate knowledge of the courtroom.  Recognizing the impact I was able to have in my practice, I began working with juvenile offenders.  In addition to litigation, I was able to work with multiple agencies and attorneys to facilitate a positive outcome for everyone involved. After moving from the domestic violence and juvenile prosecution teams, I knew that a career in family law was my true calling. Having helped hundreds of unique survivors, engaging each with empathy, strength and knowledge; and after experiencing the successful practice of collaborative law in the juvenile setting, I knew I was ready to help families navigate complex legal issues and walk beside them along the way.In the end, this story is yours to write.  My extensive trial experience allows me to negotiate from a position of strength, knowing that I am well-equipped and prepared to fight for you in the courtroom if an amicable resolution cannot be reached.  I’ll make it my goal to educate you on all the possible legal outcomes, work hard to reach a suitable agreement if possible, and advocate for you every step of the way. I can’t promise what the next chapter of your life will hold, but I can promise to support you as we write it.
