I am sharing this story while it is still ongoing because I can't believe this is happening. I'm a writer so I need to write about it to give fair warning to others. My attorney, Neely Moked of 380 Lexington Ave. Ste 1700, New York, NY 10017 - 212-355-5900, 212-444-2640, [content removed by Avvo] who has been paid in full, is not returning any of my calls in regards to my divorce case. We are at the final stages, after three very painful, and emotionally and financially stressful years, so I don’t understand why she would desert me at this time. Especially as she knows I am destitute and can’t afford to live in New York any longer let alone pay for another attorney. My ex had forty-five days to refinance our house to buy me out. It is now well over 90 days. I have contacted Ms. Moked on her cell and office numbers at least once or twice a week since April. She has not returned any of my calls. I went to court last week to see if the judge could order everyone back into court. Now I’m in a whirlwind of learning how to finalize my divorce without an attorney. I learned that Ms. Moked never even discharged the first attorney on record (another lawyer disaster) whose name is still on the courts records. When I gave Ms. Moked the first down payment she told me that was the first thing she would do. She lied. Now, I have to pay the fees (again) to have the first attorney’s name removed from the records so that I can represent myself (again). I am really overwhelmed with it all but I must do what I have to do or be stuck in this limbo. No refinance, no court papers, no attorney, no divorce. I have in my briefcase a mound of papers that I must fill out, have notarized and served to all parties concerned. Then I have to find out how to get everyone back into court. Someone I had come to trust as a professional and as a friend has deserted me. I was wrong on both counts. Ms. Neely Moked is anything but professional or trustworthy and never was she a friend. She is simply someone who adds to the negative views about lawyers in the most vicious kind of way, kicking someone when they are already down. I’ll keep you posted on the next events of my ordeal, which includes going to Ms. Moked’s office to try and get copies of my court papers. I already called and asked for them to no avail. Celia, A kicked to the curb client.
