USED NATE Thompkins in 2011 for a case and he was very sloppy and seemed unprepared. His paralegal wife/GF was trying to sell tarots and never resolved the case satisfactorily. I recommend finding another attorney. He put in minimum effort and when things went south he would blame the client instead of his sloppy legal ability and knowledge
I called fo a consultation, and paralegal/wife tried to sell me a tarot reading and a pop up vegan dinner. Later, I read reviews about this law firm. Dubious.
When I hired Nate for a legal issue, I never expected him to cut a deal behind my back. Nate worked on my case for two years and double charged me for services. He and Bina made sure their charges were exactly the amount of the settlement. Amazingly, looking at the reviews, this is consistent with Nate's business practices.
I hired Thompkins for an employment case. They claimed the case was "worth millions." Bina his wife and paralegal used to speak highly of my case until they realized it was a lot of work. They began to withhold the billing details from me until the forced settlement. They threatened to drop my case and tell other attorneys about what a "troubled" person I was if I did not want to settle. I eventually settled and they went to get the check. The bill amounted to exactly the amount of the settlement check. In addition to that, the details showed they charged more hours for the work. They took trips, went to "dinner" and "lunch" meetings with people that denied being with them. I am forced to give 1 star to people who should not be able to practice law.
I also hired NT for a personal case. I ended up getting the run around and mixed communication. Bina his wife claimed that my case was worth more than it actually was as though she is an expert. She also ran the meetings and fought with Nate in front of me. She often brought their child to the office breastfeeding and playing with the child while I was being charged hourly for BOTH of them. We settle as well and the settlement happened to be the amount of the bill. This seems to be a common practice with them. The more I ask around, the more common my situation is.
Thompkins was hired to help me with a landlord situation. I paid a retainer fee upfront. He did not work on my case. Paperwork was not filed timely, the value of the case was inflated as well as fees charged, and my case was dropped right after the settlement. The fees just happen to be exactly what the settlement was for. When I went to the office after repeated calls unreturned, Bina his paralegal and wife ran to the door to lock it. I was treated like I was harassing them but I was just a concerned client. Since then other clients have gotten together to share their stories and this is a common act. Seven clients of The NM Firm experienced the same thing is a pattern.
I was a client of Thompkins. The paperwork was poorly written with spelling errors and filed at the last minute most of the time. Billing records were not kept pursuant to the code of ethics. My records were incomplete questionable especially billings.
