About
Prior to law school I worked as a stock broker and day-trading representative for an international broker dealer for nearly five years and gained an appreciation for the values of integrity and hard work while managing others' financial assets. Those values are the foundation of my law practice. I am an active member of the Idaho State Bar and the Utah State Bar. I am admitted to practice law before all Idaho and Utah state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, and the U.S. Tax Court.

I hired Nate on a recommendation, and am very impressed. He hustled to meet an aggressive timeline, which I'm really grateful for. He has helped educate me on estate and probate in really great and gentle way. Since I live out-of-state, I also appreciate how he works with me via email and phone if needed. I recommend Nate, and plan to work with him in the future.
Nathan Palmer has helped me through three different cases. I prevailed on each of the three. Nate is a very personable and caring individual with an abundance of knowledge. I will continue to use him for all legal matters and I would highly recommend anyone else do the same.
I live in Idaho and I purchased a vehicle in Utah and quickly found out that I was charged for things that I was not actually given (Watch out if a car dealership charges you for “window etching”). I contacted Nathan with my story and documentation; since he can practice law in Idaho and Utah, he decided to help me out. We ended up getting full payment back from the car dealership. I would recommend Nate and I would use him again.
My family was given Nathan's name to possibly assist us with some legal issues with my family on behalf of my mother. We eventually hired Nathan to take our case. We met with Nathan and discussed legal issues that had come up with certain members of my family. After We discussed these items, we moved onto discussing legal health issues for my mother. Nathan did an outstanding job at giving the family options of what we could do. The time came when we started discussing Medicaid for my mother. Nathan took care of all the paper work after I gave him all the personal information. Nathan would respond to my texts and calls within a short amount of time. Nathan would always make time to investigate certain items that would arise. Nathan would always ask about my mother. He was very professional and caring. The family appreciates everything that he did for us.
My parents were reaching that time in life when my father, who has serious health issues, needed long term nursing home care. My mother had been caring for my father for over 2 years, but the time had come for a change. I live in SLC and my family agreed that dad needed to be in a nursing home. We also realized that we needed an attorney. I researched attorneys in Pocatello who specialize in Medicaid and Estate Planning. My research led me to Nathan Palmer. I sent him an email explaining our needs and he responded immediately. I talked to my mom and she agreed that we needed to set up an appointment. In July 2016, my husband, my mother and myself met with Nathan for the first time. He was friendly, professional, he listened to our concerns regarding my parents financial situation and my dad's health care needs. Nathan was very understanding, he truly listened, was able to explain Medicaid rules in a way that really helped us understand what needed to happen. He explained that rather than think in terms of Medicaid spend down; he re framed the explanation to say, moving assets. He explained the Medicaid rules and helped us understand how to move my parents financial assets into real estate, etc. This explanation really helped my mom feel more at ease. We were all very impressed with his knowledge, his ability to explain the rules of being able to qualify for Medicaid, his professionalism, but most importantly, his ability to put his clients at ease and his willingness to listen to our concerns and answer our questions. By the end of the first appointment, my mother hired him to help us navigate the Medicaid waters and help with their estate planning Since our first meeting, Nathan has been very responsive to our emails, phone calls and we have had several regular meetings to discuss where we were at with our Medicaid application. He helped my parents review our original Family Trust; he has communicated effectively when we needed to provide documents detailing my parents assets, he has been absolutely the best attorney. He has kept us informed, updated and has kept us on our toes. He had provided us with guidelines that my mother could sell her home that she and my father have lived in for 50 + years, that she could purchase a new home and a rental, which my mother did. As my parents executor of the estate, I never would have believed that my mom would purchase a new town home and a rental town home in a matter of weeks from meeting with Nathan. (My parents have lived a very frugal life and have done a very good job of saving. My parents usually take weeks to make any decision). Nathan has been very good with my mother, he is patient, understanding, helpful and most importantly, provides the information regarding Medicaid rules and allows my mom to feel validated and important. My mother is 80 years old and is sometimes forgetful, but Nathan has been so wonderful to her. Nathan has also been very kind to my father, who is 82 years old and living in a long term nursing home. He has personally gone to the nursing home and met with my father, informed him of all the financial changes that have needed to happen in order to help pay for his cost of care. My dad too, is very impressed and feels very comfortable talking to him. It has been a long haul, but on April 17,2017 my mother received a verification letter that my father has qualified for Medicaid. My mother also hired Nathan to do estate planning., He has assisted her in providing a new trust in my mother's name, as well as an updated will. Throughout this entire process, we all feel that Nathan has done an awesome job! We are all impressed with his due diligence, returning phone calls and emails; his honesty, professionalism, friendly manner and knowledge of Medicaid rules. We are very pleased with having worked so closely with Nathan and want to thank him for everything he has done for my parents. He is truly one of a kind.
I can only say he was very polite, very respectful and considerate. He worked hard to get the job done. Our case was very hard and time consuming and he stuck with it and finished all that needed to be done. I so appreciate all that he did in our behalf. I would recommend him in heart beat!
I first hired Nate for assistance with establishing a business entity. He got the job done quickly and was always very responsive when I had questions. As a result of that first positive experience with Nate, my wife and I then hired Nate to complete our estate plan. We enjoy working with Nate and refer our friends and family to him. Thanks, Stuart
Nate was hired for a non-profit real estate deal and was very good with our purchase and sale transaction. He also worked with our CPA's to create the best tax scenario going forward. It was well worth the money we paid to have him in our corner.
Nate recently helped me work through some legal issues. He was extremely responsive, relatable, and solved my problems very quickly. I will recommend Nate to everybody I know.
Nate helped our larosse organization gain tax-exempt status with the IRS after the IRS denied our initial application. Nate acted quickly and helped us amend our corporate documents to ensure our application was successful. He guided our organization through the entire process and knew exactly how to solve our problem. Thanks Nate!
