Nan M. Joseph is a certified Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She earned her J.D. at T.C. Williams School of Law, University of Richmond, in 1976.Ms. Joseph has been a trial lawyer in northern Virginia since 1976, focusing on domestic relations and family law. Her practice areas include divorce, alimony (spousal support), child support, child custody, property distributions and negotiating and drafting separation, property settlement and prenuptial agreements. She also handles paternity, protective orders, custody and spousal and child support matters in the juvenile and domestic relations court.She appears in courts in Loudoun, Fauquier, Fairfax, Arlington, Clarke, and Frederick counties and the cities of Alexandria and Winchester.Ms. Joseph represents clients in very complex custody, property and support cases. She also handles less complex cases, including those in which the parties wish to reach agreement and not incur extensive costs for litigation.Ms. Joseph is well regarded by her clients for her sensitivity to the emotional and financial stress caused by separation and divorce and the needs of children who are often caught in the middle of domestic disputes. She serves as a guardian ad litem for children in the Loudoun County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. She is a strong advocate for her clients in negotiations and in litigation.
