Nakisha changed my life in more ways than I will ever be able to express. I went to Western Michigan University's nursing program and found myself on the receiving end on some unfair treatment that almost cost me my career. I was referred to Ms Chaney because of her educational experience and could not have asked for a better representation. Her excellent professionalism and communication skills made one of the most difficult times of my life go as smoothly as I could have hoped. She stood behind me and facilitated teamwork and cohesiveness in a situation that would have been impossible had I done it alone. Nakisha is a big part of the reason that I was able to graduate at all, let alone only one semester behind my intended date rather than a full year. I would highly recommend her to anyone that is looking for legal representation!
I hired Nakisha after I was terminated as a graduate student for"failing" a clinical rotation that had undertones of discrimination. I had appealed the decision without success on my own and the University was ignoring any evidence of discrimination I presented. With Nakisha's help I finally had an expert on my side and had a seat at the bargaining table. She extremely knowledgeable about ADA practices, and has working relationships with Big Ten University lawyers. Her presence at the table was respected! She was able to negotiate my terms to repeat the clinical rotation with proper ADA accommodations. On March 10th, 2017 I passed my clinical rotation with flying colors! I finished my doctorate and I am on to a great career! I highly recommend hiring Nakisha for any school appeal process regarding ADA laws, without any reservations.
I hired Ms. Chaney regarding a dispute involving my previous employer. I was so nervous when I first walked into her office, as I never had to bring anyone to court before. Ms. Chaney immediately put me to ease. She was so professional yet spoke in words that I could understand. Ms. Chaney was always available by phone and e-mail, and never hesitated to answer my many questions. I was very satisfied with the outcome of this case, and I would highly recommend her and her firm to anyone!
I contacted Nacht Law to file suit against my former employer, a large government agency, because of unfair treatment and retaliatory action taken against me after I reported gender-based discrimination and other wrongdoing by an administrator. Ms. Chaney was assigned my case and arranged to meet with me. From that first meeting I knew my case was in good hands. I was extremely impressed with Ms. Chaney’s professionalism and legal knowledge, as well as the energy and focus with which she dove into the case and the reams of information provided. As the case progressed, I had the privilege of observing her superior skills as a litigator. Although this was a new experience for me, I never felt confused or unsure because Ms. Chaney made certain I was well-informed. I can only imagine how busy Ms. Chaney is, but she returned every e-mail and phone message in a timely manner and I never felt as though I was being rushed during any of our conversations. Ms. Chaney definitely made it clear she truly cared about my case and what I was trying to accomplish. She understood that it was not about money. It was about showing my former agency that their behavior had been improper and should not continue. After nearly three years of diligent work, Ms. Chaney brokered a settlement I feel confident will accomplish my stated goal because it requires that agency’s many administrators to undergo training specific to the issues raised by my case. I believe this will do more to change the agency’s behavior, especially in the long term, than if they merely had to write a check. I am very grateful to Ms. Chaney for helping me take a principled stand, and by doing so, improve working conditions for the agency’s current and future employees. Her efforts will ultimately ensure that those employees demonstrate greater respect for each other and the citizens they serve regardless of race, gender, orientation, or otherwise. I respect Ms. Chaney a great deal, both personally and professionally, and highly recommend her to anyone seeking the very best in legal representation.
I hired Ms Chaney to negotiate a settlement with my employer after an unexpected termination. She was professional, responsive and kind. She is able to piece together information to determine my history of the working relationships between myself and work colleagues in order to develop the best achievable outcome for me. This insight was the most impressive and made me realize how fortunate I was to have been referred to her. Ms Chaney is articulate and it is clear that employers respect not only her firm but more importantly, her as an attorney. This was the most difficult experience of my career and Ms Chaney helped me navigate it with compassion and understanding. However, her expertise is by far what was most important. She was able to ask pertinent questions to me in order to determine what my wishes and expectations were. This was especially helpful given the fact that this is naturally a time filled with emotion for me. The amount of money I was seeking in this settlement was small I am sure for this firm but not for me. I did not get the sense that I was any less important to her as a result. I will have Ms Chaney review any and all employment contracts for me in the future to avoid making the mistakes I have made this time without her. I am more than satisfied with my settlement agreement and know based on others' experiences with my employer that such settlements historically have not happened.
