About
I was inspired to pursue a specialization in mediation after spending an extended period of time in Europe where mediation is a commonly practiced alternative to litigation. I observed it to be a kinder and gentler method for resolving conflict, and the participants highly motivated to cooperate and collaborate respectfully as they focused on the mutual goal, a fair and equitable agreement.

Nadia did an extraordinary job helping us through a most difficult time. She has a very kind, wise, comforting demeanor. I feared that being a woman she would take the woman's side, but she was totally neutral with her advice. Besides knowing the law thoroughly she was able to help us understand the practical implications of the decisions that had to be made. Instead of some judge making the decisions for us the end result was that we were able to make our own informed decisions that we feel very comfortable with, without arguing. She also referred us to a financial advisor who has been extremely helpful and took care of new wills, powers of attorney and health care proxies for us so we are able to start over with a clean slate. I cannot imagine doing a divorce any other way. I would highly recommend Nadia to anybody contemplating separation or divorce for her understanding, sound advice and thoroughness.
After 30 years of marriage, my relationship with my wife finally came to an end. We finalized our divorce, with the help of Nadia Shahram, Esq., about a year ago. Initially, we were fighting like cats and dogs and had both hired attorneys. But we soon realized that our conflicts were more emotional and had less to do with the separation of property. It was going to be a huge waste of money for both of us. Money which we did not have much of to begin with. It became apparent to us that it's absurd to pay attorneys who just wanted to prolong the process and cash in on a lengthy litigation. My wife convinced me to go to Nadia Shahram, Esq. who is a matrimonial mediator as well as a divorce attorney. I was somewhat apprehensive about having one attorney negotiate both our interests, but Ms. Shahram was able to help guide us through our differences, and we were painlessly divorced within two months. Ms. Shahram went out of her way to make sure that we separated fair and amicable. It is obvious that she has a great deal of experience and sensitivity in all aspects of divorce, from the financials and property settlements to parenting plans and the emotional health of her clients. Overall, I would highly recommend this attorney/mediator for anyone who does not wish to spend a great deal of money on a divorce, and also wants to avoid the emotional scars of a legal battle.
