About

With her background in education and as a mother of two, Morna has always placed a priority in children and family. That priority, along with her own experience in the divorce process, lead her to a practice in Family Law. A resident of Sonoma County for over twenty years, Morna obtained her BA in Liberal Studies from the Hutchins School at Sonoma State University and a JD from Empire College.Prior to opening her own practice she worked for five years for several established Family Law firms in Santa Rosa as both a paralegal and law clerk. She volunteered for Sonoma County Legal Aid, and clerked for the Marin Public Defenders Office in their Juvenile Dependency division. Originally she sought to pursue Juvenile Law, however, she has found that in Family Law she has an opportunity to aid both parents and children through her practice."I enjoy Family Practice because it allows me to use my legal background in many different aspects of the law, and to work with parents and their children, couples, and families towards a more constructive outcome at a very difficult time. I am particularly satisfied when couples are able to come to amicable agreements and make their own decisions through counsel. I strive to gear my practice towards outcomes of this kind and to offer my clients a positive and productive way to settle their disputes."

I want to start by saying that if you need to find a lawyer, I'm sorry for your situation. I never thought I would need a lawyer. I told myself I just wouldn't put myself in that situation. However, shortly after the birth of my baby, I found myself in the place of desperately needing to find a lawyer. The journey of a divorce and a custody battle has, by far, been the most difficult thing I have ever gone through in my life. Morna Challoner was recommended to me by a family friend. When I met Morna for the first time, I told her what was going on in my life and she immediately outlined for me how she would proceed and what her plan would be if I decided to use her services. Instantly I was relieved and the frightening and confusing cloud of pressure felt not so heavy over me. I had been overwhelmed by all the paperwork and information – not knowing where to start. When I knew that Morna would take care of all that, I was able to focus completely on my newborn baby and just getting through one day at a time. I chose to use Morna Challoner as my lawyer because she was recommended by a friend and I connected with her easily when I first met her. Over time, she has proven to be professional and kind. She never promised me anything or told me what I wanted to hear, she simply told me the truth of my situation and what she has seen in her experience. Throughout all of the processes and procedures that have come along with court, I found that Morna has a great reputation in the court system. Others in the field respect her. Morna is the first person I update on any of life's challenges or changes. Her consistency has helped me to focus on the bigger picture and move forward past this horrible experience. I believe this to be true because she never promoted false expectations and helped me realize how it is good for me to find and start a new life and focus on giving my child the best life despite the challenges we face. Financially, the decision to engage an attorney may be an expensive one and may seem like an unnecessary investment at first thought. In retrospect, the money that I have paid Morna has been well worth it. As I look back on my relationship with Morna as my attorney, I wouldn't change one thing. I feel that my money has been well spent and I don't wish back one dime. My child is the most important thing in my life and I want to give my child the best life that I can. Since my experience is so limited in this extremely sensitive situation (divorce and custody arrangements), I just tread lightly and let the expert do her job in advising me on my journey. I would highly recommend Morna Challoner for anyone who needs a family law lawyer.

Morna helped me immensely with an emergency order for custody of my kids. She gave me great advice and helped me throughout the entire process. She is very knowledgeable in her field, very friendly and easy to talk to. Her staff is also very knowledgeable and helpful, making the process seemingly easy. I would highly recommend her.

Morna has been with me from the start of my Child Custody case. She is very smart, caring, and understanding. At the start of this very scary process, she was always there and continues to be. I trust her with everything. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She tells things how they are but also gives me options. There are always good reasons for the options I am given.

Morna and her staff did a great job on my case, worked closely with me and helped me toward an outcome that was best for my children and their well-being. Family law is an area that is always compounded with emotion and Morna handled that side well, allowing me to feel that my attoney not only cared about my legal well-being but my emotional as well.

She made several errors in our case. She didn't do half the things she was supposed to and when I showed her work to another attorney they said we should get our money back.

A horrible, idiotic attorney with low moral character. Willing to lie for her clients heedless, even when evidence proves she lies. Avoid at all costs if you don't want to get annihilated in court.
