About

Mindy Ellen Wheeler is a proud Wichita native, and a graduate of Wichita East High School and Wichita State University. Before deciding to go to law school, Ms. Wheeler worked in the Wichita banking industry for nearly a decade. Thereafter, she returned to Wichita State University and received her bachelor’s degree in History and Philosophy.  In 2012, she returned home to Wichita after graduating from the University of Iowa College of Law and worked for three years as a legal assistant in a family law practice. In the summer of 2015, while awaiting the results of the Kansas Bar Exam, she began working with attorney Jack Peggs. After learning that she had passed the exam and would be admitted to practice law in Kansas, she and Mr. Peggs decided to form a partnership, combining his vast legal knowledge and many years of law practice experience with her education, experience and energy. She is excited to be a part of this new firm and ready to help her clients with a variety of legal issues.

I was going through a tough time, and needed an attorney to commence my divorce. Finances weren't the best so I was having a hard time finding an attorney; and I was desperate. I encountered Ms. Wheeler, and I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer. She listened to my situation and offered knowledgeable input. I couldn't have asked for a better representative than her. I would definitely go back if deemed necessary.

After calling many different law firms it was a breath of fresh air when I spoke with Mindy from Peggs Wheeler, LC. Mindy was fair and listened to my case and even invited me to the office to gather further information regarding my case. All the other law firms wanted to charge me an arm and a leg before even asking what my name was. The consult was timely and very informative as a lot of the laws in Kansas have been updated. I left feeling very confident about my case and with clear direction as to the best way to proceed. I will defiantly be working with Mindy in the years to come.

Mindy is by far the worst attorney that I have ever hired to represent me. I hired her to represent me in a child custody case and though she spoke well and gave me a good feeling during our phone consultation, she never lived up to my expectations. I live out-of-state, so Initially we would talk as scheduled, then, she would cancel our phone conversations and only email me, then it eventually turned to where she wouldn’t respond to phone calls or emails - I was completely disregarded and when I finally got her on the phone, she had numerous excuses time and time again. During my case, she was always reactive, never on the offensive. The other party’s attorney was always requesting documentation, statements, inquiries about me and my pastand though I returned all the requested information back to Mindy in a day or two, I later found out that we didn’t return the information for over 30 days and I was assessed a $1500+ fee. My case was destined for trial and we knew this early on, yet Mindy didn’t even start preparing for trial until the week before. She refused to call the witnesses that I requested her to use, suggested 2 days before trail that I should settle, and provided the documents to be used against me, the day before our trial, while I was flying into Wichita. To me, she cowars and completely loses confidence when she’s facing a good attorney. I never received anything that I wanted; my son’s mom and her attorney ruled everything from start to finish. Mindy didn’t tell me about several court dates, did not inform me of when I was required to start paying child support (so I became delinquent several months), failed to notify of me of a pending bank account garnishment from the other attorney (I had to tell her once it happened). We lost the case, although she argued very well during. Perhaps we could have been better suited if she had done any actual work in the 7 month leading up to trial, where I was only able to see my son once. Again, she is a horrible attorney with no moral compass. She will take your money and then not even provide the service you’re entitled to. It took me months to get the finalized court paperwork from her office. When I called back for the 57th time, she told me that she filed to no longer be my attorney even though there were still pending actions. She is a horrible lawyer and useless in my case. Do yourself a favor and find an attorney that will actually keep you up-to-date on your case, communicate with you and produce results - none of which she did.
