About
Michael H. Gazin was born in Los Angeles, California in 1949, and has been a resident of Orange County since 1974. He and his wife have lived in Irvine since 1976 where they raised their two daughters.Mr. Gazin graduated from San Jose State University with honors in 1971, earning a BA degree in Political Science. He attended the University Of Santa Clara School Of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1974. Mr. Gazin was admitted to the California State Bar in 1974, when he commenced his practice in Orange County. In Mr. Gazin’s early years of practice, he handled a broad spectrum of cases ranging from criminal defense, personal injury, business litigation and family law. Commencing in the mid 1980’s, Mr. Gazin began focusing his practice primarily in the area of family law, and now limits his practice to Family Law.Mr. Gazin’s approach to the practice of Family Law comes from his perspective that, to the extent possible, an amicable, equitable and expeditious resolution of the issues best serves the parties’ interest in their time of personal and inter-family crisis. To achieve that goal, Mr. Gazin’s first focus is to evaluate the case to determine if such a method is both an appropriate and viable option. Mr. Gazin has been an active member of the Orange County Bar Association since 1976, serving as a member on its Board of Directors from 1980 through 1985. Mr. Gazin was elected Secretary of the Orange County Bar Association in 1986, Treasurer in 1987, President-Elect in 1988 and President in 1989. Mr. Gazin recently completed a 3 year term as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Orange County Bar Foundation. He is a former Treasurer of the Orange County Bar Family Law Section. Mr. Gazin chaired the Client Relations Committee of the Orange County Bar Association from 1983 to 1985 after serving as a Committee member from 1977 to 1983; he has served as a delegate to the State Bar Conference of Delegates every year from 1980 through 2003. Mr. Gazin served as a member of the Orange County Bar Association Judiciary Committee in 2003, and he has served as a Judge Pro Tem for the Orange County Superior Court.Mr. Gazin has an AV Rating with Martindale Hubbell. Mr. Gazin has been named and is currently recognized by the Los Angeles Magazine as one of Orange County’s Super Lawyers; and he is currently listed in the U.S. News and World Report Best Lawyers guide.

Mike was referred to me by 3 other lawyers who have worked with him. He is competent without question. Most important to me is that he remained calm and confident throughout the process. Even though I would be rattled by events, he was able to put me at ease and reduce the anxiety of the process. He was very efficient with the time and highly responsive (he always responded to my inquiries, even after hours, within a couple of hours). He is very candid about my situation and set my expectations well for what points I could win or lose. I was very fortunate to resolve my case in 7 months. Throughout the process, Mike was open to my ideas on strategies to reach agreement while remaining firm in his recommendations about approaches he thought would do me a disservice. Overall, I felt I concluded my case swiftly and with a most fair deal.
Michael's high level of integrity was reflected by his efficient and thorough approach to my cases. In every case, I had spent less on attorney fees than the other parties whose hourly attorney fees were lower! His experience and judgement take the nonsense out of legal disputes.
Mr. Gazin represented me on several difficult and contentious cases within a 2 year period against the same plaintiff. Making the long story short, I (and my very young daughter) had positive outcomes for a domestic violence, child custody, and a move away trial. All three were separate suits at different times and for two of those suits included an associate attorney who worked under Mr. Gazin. I had consulted many people and attorneys in Family Law as a result of my ordeal at the time, and consistently Mr. Gazin was highly regarded by his peers and associates. And everyone knew him. I found him to be very experienced, knowledgable, ethical, accurate, and very responsive. My impression of Mr. Gazin at his best was at the Courthouse. Though the other party switched attorneys three times through the initial process, Mr. Gazin was confident, aggressive, and respected in all cases at all times -- in the cafeteria where everyone was trying to work an agreement out, and also (unfortunately) in the courtroom in a trial taking most of the day. My daughter and I highly recommend this attorney.
Divorce and the associated child custody matters are highly stressful and filled with emotion. I am so very thankful for Mike and his entire team and the wonderful support and guidance he personally provided me throughout this emotional process. At the most difficult time in my life with many other negative things happening around me, he successfully kept me focused and grounded as he worked towards the best possible outcome for my children and me. Mike understood how important my children were to me and he helped me work through all the challenges associated with custody while helping me also stay focused on what was ultimately in the best interest of the children. I highly recommend Mike.
Child custody and divorce is a emotional time... Mike kept it calm and understood. His personal communication and expertise brought the appropriate outcome to my divorce and the lives of my 3 children. I recommend him strongly
I retained Mike Gazin and he handled my case poorly. He was very weak in representing my case. I spent over $130k and never got anywhere, but a temporary stipulation that they should have never had me sign. He's not aggressive and as brilliant as some of his colleagues believe him to be. It's all about the $25k retainer fee and then badgering for another $25k replenishment to keep up with their big firm. All they do is go back and forth with opposing cancel, letting the opposition get away with abusing the system. Had to change attorneys. Attorneys need to be held accountable.
