About
I was never a prosecutor. I've wanted to keep people out of jail, not put them in. I never wanted the baggage that comes from vouching for cops and putting people in jail all day. I have an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating possible.

I was accused of horrible actions against minor children. I knew I was innocent, yet was still in a state of shock and disbelief that this was the reality of my life. Michael Chaney, reviewed the facts of my arrest, the lack of evidence and took the reigns in every aspect which lead to the discovery of my innocence in the eyes of law enforcement, the court and the public. I felt confident that through him the truth would be exposed and it was. I can not thank Mr. Chaney enough for getting my life back on track. His ethics and insight were a terrific combination, making him the most effective lawyer I've ever known. He is an absolute expert in criminal defense. In a time of need, this is the man you want on your side. To say I am grateful for his service is an understatement.
I was arrested for a second DUI in the summer of 2009. The circumstances and specifics of the case were complicated and messy to say the least. I was referred to Michael Chaney by a lawyer and close family friend. Mr. Chaney took control of the case and made me feel at ease in a situation which made that very difficult. He is sharp, creative, and very well connected (which is essential in all legal situations). His breadth of experience, understanding of the law, and up-to-date knowledge of legal cases and situations meant that he was able to come up with several approaches to every situation that arose, and he was always willing to go the extra mile, never settling for "that will do" nor accepting undesirable offers. He made himself fully available in person and by phone/email for the duration of the case - before, during, and after all court dealings. To me this was very important and made it possible for me to relax and feel confident that my interests were being looked out for. I would absolutely hire Michael Chaney again and/or refer family and friends to his professional care (and have in fact done so already).
My case was very complex and I trusted in Michaels ability, knowledge and experience. I never once doubted that he would prove my innocence.
We didn't get the help we wanted for the high price paid. This was a vehicular case that clearly had 2 sides. In complicated cases there are often many options to consider. It seemed as though this veteran has his mind made up and therefore was unwilling to deal with or just not motivated in considering other legal options. Given the attorney's experience it was assumed that he was communicated all the potential options. Ultimately a new lawyer who would listen had to be retained in order to take the case to trial, which we were strongly discouraged from!!
