About
I'm a family law attorney and professional family/divorce Mediator, and the owner of Sacramento Divorce Solutions, Inc.. I participate only in family and divorce mediation (I haven't litigated a divorce case in over ten years). I have two associates, Hellen J. Hernandez and Gina P. Arancibia, who only handle family law litigated (court) matters. Unlike other mediators, and because I have specialized training, my mediation practice handles clients across a broad range of conflict, from those who get along very well, to those who can't communicate directly with each other, or that have restraining orders. I can handle this range because I modify my mediation process depending on client needs and the circumstances of their relationship with each other. In some cases, clients will be mediated without having to have face to face negotiations; in others, they will. Every situation is unique. For more detailed information about me, my process, or the other professionals in my office, visit our mediation page at www.SacramentoDivorceSolutions.com.

Michael has tremendously impacted our family and me personally. As an attorney, he has a unique mix of knowledge, expertise, kindness, and sensitivity: those last two qualities, unfortunately, are often rare and desperately needed qualities within the legal community. Michael took the time to understand the issues and showed genuine compassion before laying out a solid plan for navigating the difficult circumstances. He is fair, balanced, and realistic, and he did an excellent job breaking down the key issues into easy-to-understand concepts. He often explained things in powerful word pictures that could be carried into real-life circumstances when the stakes and stress levels were heightened (and it would have otherwise been easy to forget). I would highly recommend Michael for mediation or consultation services.
Divorce is never an easy process to face. Emotions are involved and, at times, there's the urge to retaliate and take the most of what you can get. The court adversary system promotes this, more so during divorce as “retainers” are involved. For those seeking an alternative way to separate, perhaps, amicably, mediation may be the way. Thus, I am glad to have found Michael. He is a full time mediator and does not take sides. He listens, is compassionate, and respects your privacy. Most importantly he works hard to find a solution that is fair to both parties. While the aftermath of a divorce leaves a hole in your chest, a knot in your gut, working with Michael did not leave me with the bad after taste of being had.
Can that even be a "thing"? Well it was for us. Michael helped us navigate through our divorce proceedings with a calmness and a positive attitude. He was respectful of our needs and sensitive to our sometimes raw feelings and emotions. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a peaceful transition from married status to single.
If there's anything to be said about divorce... it sucks. In so many ways! But choosing Michael Jonsson as my mediator was the absolute best choice I could have made. In comparing other folks' experiences through the divorce process, I mentioned to my ex time and time again how lucky we were to have fallen into such capable hands. We agreed on that. And through divorce proceedings!!!! How often do divorcing folks agree on things? Right? Beyond the technical knowledge Michael possesses and his expertise in children as a child advocate, he taught me a lot about how to communicate to the man I had been with for almost 17 years. Both in and out of the mediation office. I believe we both benefited and came out much stronger thanks to the work we did in those hours of work at the Sacramento Divorce Solutions office. The coaching I was able to receive individually was priceless. Keep in mind, some mediators will not communicate AT ALL without both parties present. I cannot phantom working like that. There were times I needed to be talked off the ledge, angry emails exchanged that needed dissecting and Michael was there though it all. With understanding and compassion - and a gentle kick in the pants when I needed it. In conclusion, I don't believe I'd be as happy and strong as I am right now without this process having been handled the way it did.
I choose Mike after getting price quotes from a few different places, although his prices were similar to everyone else, his responsiveness was the reason I chose to go with him. He emailed me back very quickly, and we spoke on the phone and scheduled an appt. for a few days later. My husband and I had already figured out 99% of everything already, but I wanted to hire a professional to make sure that all the paperwork got done correctly (and quickly!) and to help make certain that we didn't have any loopholes in the agreement that could cause problems after the divorce is finalized. Mike was very professional, and was his coworker Hellen. He walked my husband and I through everything that could be contested and turned what I thought would be very simple into about 20 pages of paperwork for the judge to read. He was very throrough, and since he was acting as a mediator, he recommended that we each have our own lawyers look over everything before we signed (which I did), small changes were recommended, and he was very quick in making the changes. I'm so glad I had Mike and Hellen to guide us through this process because I'm sure I would have been a nutcase trying to do it alone, and although it costs money, it was worth every cent to me. The judge signed within 3 weeks of it being submitted to the court, and I credit the quickness both to the court and to Mike having done a thorough enough job that the Judge didn't have any questions because everything was so well laid out. I hope to never need Mike's services again, but I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a mediator for a divorce.
Michael explained every step of the process what is to be expected at each session. I am glad there was this kind of "mediation" available. I would not hesitate to recommend his services.
