I recommend this lawyer for help on contested divorces because I was in a very difficult situation and he came through for me. His staff was responsive, his advice and predictions were correct. Also, one of the only divorce lawyers that gives free consultations, so I was able to speak with him first about my matter
Mr Underwood was VERY knowledgeable about complex situations and highly recommend him.
Great experience with my tough divorce case. Mike saved me time, money and got me out of marriage. Thanks Mike! Highly recommended
switched from another lawyer and was very happy I did, Mr Underwood resolved my divorce and I was very satisfied every step of the way
Do not hire Michael. I can't get into the details as to why, but believe me, He is not a good attorney.
He's taken over 2 years with a simple divorce. No kids, few assets, completely uncontested. All he has to do is write up paperwork and he isn't even answering emails. Next step is reporting him so he can't scam anyone else.
Be careful hiring this man. He has taken money from me and did not do what he needed to do. He charges hundreds of dollars the moment you even breathe in his presence. If you are fighting for the well being of your child do not go to him. Once I hired him, he did not return my calls or emails and when he did, I was charged $350 each time. He has FAILED to file my petition to the court and he did not fight for what I was asking for. Do not waste your time or your hard earned money on Michael Underwood.
I hired Michael based on his "reviews" and 1st conversation which he personally answered the incoming call. !st flag. His retainer is low for a reason, bait and switch. he proclaimed himself as the Walmart of lawyers, 2nd flag. He promised he was experienced in court appearances for divorce and assured me he could handle anything. Payed retainer in full, never received much for info after that. He doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner. When he does, its $395/hr for every little question and second that he fails to expressly answer questions correctly the 1st time. His responses are Incomplete and vague usually. He failed to show up to 1st court appearance because of "scheduling conflict", ya, whatever! My date was scheduled 3 months in advance. You dont represent "emergency cases". The ONLY excuse he provided when the reality is, that is unprofessionalism, period. The worst part is I knew nothing until 1.5 hr before court session!! I showed alone. When the case progressed to contested, he bailed and refused to provide further help, only to bail when needed the most and rudely drops me mid case. I should have fired him before this because i caught him in a couple lies of things he denied he said when in fact he did say. I recommend recording ANY conversation you have with him. Choose another Lawyer and do yourself a favor.
Hired Mike in January 2016 to deal with my child custody issues, fathers rights problems and a QDRO. Went to court many times and every time we would go to court I would lose more of my custody and fathers rights. Communication was terrible, the only emails I would get would be my bill every month. After 2 years of having the Underwood law firm represent me I let them go due to not receiving any results. I lost almost all my custody rights, my fathers right where null and void and my QDRO still has not been finalized. $8000 in debt after 2 years and no results. Definitely not a “Fathers Rights” attorney. Look elsewhere!!
I hired Mike to represent me for a child support and custody matter over the course of a year and a half. Mike was very unorganized from the start, however I had already paid my retainer, so I felt stuck with him. Mike would meet with me for an hour at $300 plus an hour to prepare for court, however he wouldn't use any of the information for our petition. Mike would wait until we arrived to court to try figuring out what to say to the judge and he wouldn't remember anything from our meeting. Mike's petitions were lacking critical information, which led me to ultimately lose the custody and child support case. Mike did not stick up for me in court when the respondent was talking negatively about me. I had to nudge him several times to stop her. During child support court the Judge wouldn't listen to anything Mike was saying, due to his lack of preparation, lack of knowledge of custody and child support matters, lack of negotiation skills and his poorly written petition. I feel that I could have done more if I only represented myself during this difficult time.
