Although Michael’s primary practice areas are civil and commercial litigation, his diverse legal background ranging from bankruptcy and contract disputes to environmental litigation and regulatory compliance allows him to provide clients with practical solutions to their complex legal problems. Michael earned his law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School, with a certificate in natural resources and environmental law and distinction for his legal writing in the moot court program. During and after law school, he provided legal support to a regional government authority in Portland, Oregon, working on a wide range of complex environmental issues involving CERCLA, RCRA, and the CWA, while assisting with the agency’s response to multimillion-dollar Superfund litigation and non-judicial cost allocation activities. Michael has also provided regulatory compliance suport to some of the nation's largest financial institutions.
