You hear a lot of horror stories about divorce. The fighting, the heartache, your kids hurting and you hurting for them… It’s all awful. My experience was no different. I have a particularly difficult ex wife who is very manipulative and methodical in the way she handled me, the kids and the divorce. She was emotionally and physically abusive in our marriage and blamed me for all of it. She used my job and work schedule against me to try and claim that I was unable to have the kids because my schedule wasn’t good for them. I work 12 hour shifts at night, 3-4 nights a week and have flexibility in what days of the week that I work. I have plenty of time off to spend with the kids but was being kept from the kids and not allowed to see them except when she thought it was necessary. My ex told me at the beginning of our separation that for custody and visitation we would start with a 1 hour afternoon visit, once a week. Then once she decided that the kids were ready, we could talk about changing it. She also told me that overnights were out of the question and we would revisit that idea in 3 to 4 years. My kids were 5 and 3 years old at the time. She even kept the kids from me for a month without letting me see them at all because she said I gave her my work schedule to late and the days off that I had didn’t work for her and the kids. I had a very difficult time explaining to an attorney, what was exactly going on because of how sneaky and manipulative things were being done. I was being left out of medical decisions. I was being left out of educational decisions. I was being lied about to the kids and talked bad about to the kids and would have to answer questions from my kids about why I had done the most recent lie she had told them. No one would listen to me. No one would help. I was told to settle. I was told to stop fighting because I was the Dad and had no chance of significant custody time. But I could not give up. I saw the hurt in my kids’ eyes when I would have to take them back before any of us were ready. I just needed to find someone who would listen to what was actually happening. One day I read a review much like this one. This person was talking about his work schedule and how he worked 12 hour shifts. He talked about how Mike Razo helped him get significant custody time with his kids even though his work schedule was being used against him. When I read that, I knew that I needed to speak to Mr. Razo. We set up a meeting to discuss the case with Mr. Razo and get his thoughts on the matter. It took no more that 2 minutes for me to realize this guy was different. He was listening. His responses to my information and questions were like he already knew what was going on. And more than that, he gave me hope that it wasn’t over and that he would do everything in his ability to help me. That began a journey with Mr. Razo that lasted several years. My ex fought everything in court, wouldn’t move forward unless ordered by a judge and dragged everything to a halt any chance she could get. It was bleak. I was way behind the 8 ball and fighting an uphill, seemingly impossible battle. All through this process I would get frustrated and upset about the process and the things she was “getting away with”. And every time, Mr. Razo was there to tell me the truth. It wasn’t always what I wanted to hear and wasn’t always the best news, but he always, 100% of the time, told me the truth. He always made me feel like someone was in my corner, someone was hearing my concerns and understood them and actually cared about what was happening to my kids. If he told me he was going to do something, he did it. If he told me this is what’s going to happen, then that’s what happened. He always called me back, emailed me back or contacted me whenever I had concerns or questions. He never gave up on me and my kids when others told me that I should just settle because she was going to win anyway. See p. 2
If I had to describe Mike Razo in one word, it would be Integrity. This word has come to mind time and time again over the last two and a half years working with Mike and the team at BRL. As I reflect on my experience with Mr. Razo as my attorney, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. My divorce process has been long, drawn-out, and highly stressful for me. Having an attorney who is knowledgeable, confident, honest, and communicative has made such a difference and has provided so much reassurance during a time of continued uncertainty. Prior to working with Mike, I had two other attorneys. I felt that although they were both reputable, they did not have the expertise, knowledge, and assertiveness that Mr. Razo possesses, and I did not feel confident that my case would be resolved in my best interest. As soon I became a client of Mike Razo, there was a radical difference in not only the way my case was handled but in the peace and reassurance that I felt knowing I was in good hands. Whenever I emailed or called with a question or concern, I received a response in a timely manner, normally by phone call. To me, this shows that Mike is willing to go above and beyond to keep clients informed and to make sure they feel heard. On many occasions, my anxiety and fear about my case would become overwhelming, and I would email multiple questions to Mr. Razo; these concerns were consistently met with respect and patience. Mike always took the time to explain the process and clarify anything that was confusing or worrisome. He provided extensive guidance to make sure that I did not agree to anything that was not in my best interest as well as validating any concerns that I had. This took a great deal of weight off of my shoulders and gave me a sense of relief to not have to go through this alone. Mike is very straightforward and honest; he does not make empty promises but rather provides realistic expectations. He is sharp, organized, and thorough. One thing that I noticed right away and really struck me was the way he speaks about colleagues and other associates. He does not badmouth opposing counsel or anyone for that matter. He is respectful and complimentary whenever he speaks about other people. He is professional and maintains a positive attitude, even when things don’t go as expected. Throughout the Covid pandemic, Mr. Razo and everyone at BRL remained dedicated and communicative and made every effort to keep my case moving forward. I feel extremely fortunate to have found BRL and to have Mike Razo on my side. If you are looking for an expert family law attorney with integrity and professionalism you are in the right place. In fact, every staff member that I have been in contact with at BRL has been helpful, kind, and professional. They have all made this very difficult process that much easier.
First I want to reiterate that Atty Mike Razo is not only is the best family law lawyer in Southern California but also the most experienced. My former lawyer who recently retired, who has been doing this for over 30 years personally recommended Atty Mike Razo. If I can give 10 stars ⭐️ I would. For the following reasons: Mike took on my case from my former lawyer who retired in March 2021 with finesse, grace and he was honest and upfront from the beginning. Secondly, the team at BRL law firm is a class act. They respond to your emails and phone calls like almost right away. Thirdly, Mike knows how to maneuver and set the tone of the negotiations with the opposing counsel and honestly I don’t have to give consent before he does it because he has his client’s best interest in mind. Fourthly, Mike has been working hard and would really be your advocate during the hearing and he is very sharp, professional and a gentleman even though the opposing counsel is being unprofessional. My case ended in July 2021 and I received the utmost respect and courtesy and professionalism from the people at BRL and Mike personally handles all the discussions and will explain to you every step of the way. I will use Atty Mike Razo’s services again. I am a true believer!
I don’t usually write review, but I am very pleased to write this review for Mr Razo. Mike Razo was not the first lawyer in my divorce case, he was actually the 3rd one. I really wish I have hired him from the very beginning. He was very thorough, respectful, prepared, and professional. He always communicates and keeps me updated. From the moment he started representing me, I felt like a weight has been lifted off me. He listens, does his research and comes prepared to court. He did not bill me unnecessarily as some other lawyers do who seems to care more for your money more than your case.
Working with Mr Razo and his team was just amazing. They made the entire legal process easy to understand and assisted with every step in the process. Mr Razo was great at explaining what the next steps were and I felt like I was part of the process. He and his team represented my family and I better than I could have ever hoped for. Mr Razo and his team are amazing and took great care of us.
I retained Mike Razo as my attorney in my Divorce. I consulted with a few attorneys, but Mr. Razo had a far better understanding of the unique issues of my case, in particular the financial nuances involved in separating our assets and debts that were entangled from our 10-year marriage. We had one particular asset that required specialized knowledge. Emotions were running very high and I could not have handled this matter without him. He was always available and extremely knowledgeable. He kept me from agreeing to things that were against my best interest. I would recommend Mike Razo and highly recommend you retain him at the onset of your divorce or separation so that you don't make any decisions that go against your best interest. Thank you, Mike, for helping me through one of the toughest experiences of my life.
If I could rate higher than a 10 I would. Mike is a patient, compassionate and respectable lawyer. I had gone through two lawyers for my case which gave me good insight on the quality of lawyer Mike is. With Michael, you have a lawyer who genuinely cares for you, guides you properly, doesn't try to squeeze every dollar out of you and gives his 100% for you. It is apparent everything he does is to charge you as fairly as possible. He will always be honest with you and tell you the reality of the situation instead of telling you what you want to hear. He turned a dire situation I was put into and corrected many issues. He is a honest lawyer with etiquette who wants to help you instead of taking your money. The quality of work Michael offers is truly a bargain and he has a vast amount of knowledge in his profession.
After getting blindsided by my daughters dad I was so lost and worried it was going to go so wrong. After having a consult with with the firm we decided to go with Mr. Razo and it was such a blessing. He reassured it me it would be a little long but it was going to be ok. I was always in the loop of everything that was happening and he always made sure to keep my daughters best interests. I can not thank him enough!
I was first referred to Mike Razo by a dear friend who was also an attorney. At the time, I was confused and very afraid. My marriage was ending, I was facing criminal charges and I was broke....In EVERY sense of the word. There were so many "moving parts" that seemed to be spinning out of control, my entire world was crashing. But then I met Mike.....and things began to change. Just in talking with him, I knew that he saw not only all the legal stuff, but he saw ME and my pain. He is a very kind and genuine person. I left his office feeling a sense of calm and hope. He was able to stand back and look at the "big picture" of what I was facing and immediately started helping me to get all my "ducks in a row", so that each problem was dealt with in a deliberate and methodical way. I really wasn't the ideal client most of the time, I seemed to drop the ball quite often. When I look back over the process now, I know that he practically carried me through a lot of it. I never had any doubt that he truly had MY best interest behind any decisions or compromises that we dealt with. And hes really SMART with all the legal stuff too !! Im very happy with the outcome of everything......he was able to get the criminal charges dropped and the divorce settlement was very fair for all parties. I feel very blessed to have him, not only as my attorney, but now as a friend as well. Im a strong believer in the fact that "everything happens for a reason" so if you're reading this, more than likely, there's a reason for it. Call him.....you'll see! : )
It has been an honor to be represented by Mr. Razo. He helped me dismiss a Domestic Violence Restraining Order case filed against me. From the first contact we had over the phone he saw me as a human being not just another customer. He made feel that my case was his only priority. He took the time to listen to my case. He never made promises he can't keep, he was very responsive and transparent with me. Court day came and his experience showed. He came prepare to expose the other party lies and serious allegation filed against me that could prevent me from seeing my son. Mr. Razo was sharp, very responsive, well prepared, truthful, very professional, and compassionate. Mr. Razo and his staff has always been there for me whenever I had questions and needed assistance. I recommend Mr. Razo 100% to anyone looking for a an attorney, he is the best attorney California can have! I do thanks Mr. Razo and staff for your assistance on help me be able to see my son again.

You hear a lot of horror stories about divorce. The fighting, the heartache, your kids hurting and you hurting for them… It’s all awful. My experience was no different.
