I would strongly recommend you get a contract at the time of hiring this lawyer. On the phone, he quoted $175 but when I received an itemized bill which was mailed after the second payment, the rate said $225. In addition, he is not able to handle partition of properties which is something to be aware of in cases where you may be forced to go to court. After paying $875 in fees with no more headway than prior to me hiring him, I terminated our relationship. I paid this amount more or less for him to speak to me and leave messages for the other client's lawyer (he spoke once to her). Do your research before hiring a lawyer. I'm on the hunt again but I've learned my lesson and will be asking for a contract at the time of hire along with expectations.
