My wife and I hired Michael to facilitate the adoption of our grand-daughter. A few years prior, we had a different lawyer help us establish guardianship of her and we were not at all pleased with that lawyer so, needless to say, we were skeptical of lawyers prior to meeting with Michael. In our first meeting, Michael told us what to expect in this process from beginning to end and stated his fee up front and advised us to expect a few other court costs as well. Everything he said on day one is pretty much how the entire process unfolded. No unexpected charges or unexpected hoops to jump through. A lot had to be done to accomplish the adoption, but none of it was unexpected. Also, Michael was very patient with us, answered phone calls or returned them promptly and always answered emails promptly. For our needs and expectations, Michael was and will be a great asset. We plan on using him again early next year for some estate planning. Highly recommended.

I engaged the services of Mr. Johnson for an uncontested divorce. I was impressed beyond my expectations with the service he provided. He always made sufficient and timely availability to discuss my situation. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and found him to be thorough, ethical and compassionate. I would recommend without reservation !!

I do not want to get into the details of why I needed Mike's help; however, I have hired him three times with three great results.

Michael represented me in a complicated custody modification case that seemed an uphill battle from the very beginning due to being an active duty service member getting ready to leave the state. Active duty service members often get the short end of the deal because it is difficult to prove "stability" in court when one is changing duty stations every few years, especially as a single parent. When I first met Michael, the first thing that instantly stood out about him is that he is very pensive and thinks about what he is going to say before he says it. Yet, as he continued to represent me for the 14 months following, I discovered that he is well-experienced and able to handle the overly-aggressive type of attorneys (such as my ex-spouse's in my case). Michael did a fine job researching military options. For example, he assisted in allowing my side of the family to be granted some time while I am on deployments who otherwise would have never been allowed to see my child if my ex-spouse had his way. I was also granted to have my child with me outside the state for much more time than I thought would ever be possible. Michael was always available on the phone/email and personally responded to my queries promptly. I appreciated his honesty, professionalism, and attention to detail in my case. With Michael's dedication, I was able to keep my child in my life while serving our country. I will continue to take all my future post-divorce legal issues to Michael. Highly recommend!!!!!

I hired Michael to help me get custody of my son 2 years ago. At this time I had no rights to my son at all and I was a single father. Getting custody seemed like a far stretch for me and the position I was in. Michael was extremely professional and paid great attention to detail, which was a relief for me because i have retained lawyers in the past who were less than competent. Michael got me primary physical custody of my son which was much more than i had expected to happen. 6 months ago my sons mother retained a lawyer and filed for a custody modification. I retained Michael once again and this time the case was more complex than the first. With my previous experience of having Michael representing me it was a no brainer that Michael would be able to successfully assist me in retaining primary custody. Michael once again did a fantastic job and I couldn't be more satisfied with the outcome. I would refer anyone who needed an excellent family attorney to Michael R. Johnson.

I had been through a couple attorneys before I hired Michael. I have now been with him for several years, and many court hearings, regarding post-divorce issues. Michael is the first attorney who didn't waste my time—every minute counts when being billed by the hour! As soon as we'd sit down, we got right to business. I liked that! He's the only attorney who's ever taken consistent notes, and actually reviewed them. Even better, ALL communication was directly with Michael. All my previous attorneys would have me communicate with their paralegals. Very little got relayed to my attorney, of whom it mattered, and what did was choppy and inaccurate. What's the point?! That was never the case with Michael. My nickname for Michael is Rainman. (Although he doesn't know it.) During my intake meeting, he asked how old my kids were. I told him. He clarified by asking, "do you mean X?" He was right! I was so embarrassed! One had had a birthday and I was wrong! Michael caught that from actually reading my form! What a breath of fresh air! His attention to detail has continued to be impressive over the years. I have come to realize all attorneys will want to help you settle, in your best interest. Prepare for the worst (court), hope for the best (settle). The Boise Judges always seem annoyed. You have a 50/50 chance of winning/loosing. Not good odds. They blame you both for being there, regardless of what you have on the other party. However, you will want a good attorney to guide you through the process, protect your interests, and write up your legal documents in detail and without ambiguity. If you do go to court, you want someone who is well prepared. Either way, Michael is that guy!

Good attorney for simple cases. Complex cases against experienced attorney's are over his current capabilities. Review his case history- he often waits to the last minute to file as was our experience- and while this typically works in cut and dry cases-challenged cases and those requiring trial may not be in your favor as the previous reviews state.
