Michael W. Aceto, an associate in the firm's Environmental, Toxic Tort, and Product Liability Practice Groups, concentrates his practice in the areas of toxic tort, product liability, environmental, and construction claims. He is a trial lawyer with experience defending companies and individuals in matters involving mass torts including asbestos, benzene, talc, silica, lead, and other chemicals. Michael also specializes in complex product liability actions involving industrial equipment, commercial and consumer motor vehicles, and household consumer products. He also handles environmental matters in the areas of natural gas, hydraulic fracturing, water contamination, and air pollution.Michael has experience in all aspects of the litigation process from inception to disposition, including pleadings and discovery preparation, depositions, motion practice, case valuation, and pretrial management. He regularly writes on emerging environmental issues impacting the regulated industry as a contributor to Goldberg Segalla's Environmental Law Monitor, the firm’s weekly environmental publication.Before entering private practice, Michael served as a law clerk in the Torts Litigation Section of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Edward Griffith in the Chester County, PA Court of Common Pleas. In addition, he focuses his pro bono practice on counseling non-profit organizations in the educational system.Michael received his J.D. from the Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware, where he graduated with Pro Bono distinction. In addition to earning Certificates of Achievement, Michael was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a national honor society recognizing excellence in oral advocacy and brief writing. He was also a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and assumed a leadership role as Vice President & Dibona Fall Competition Chairman, in which he authored the competition problem. Prior to law school, Michael graduated magna cum laude from New York University where he received his M.S. in Publishing and from which he received the NYU Merit Scholarship for Distinguished Academics. He received his B.A. in English with a Minor in Communications from Elon University in Elon, North Carolina. During his studies at Elon University, he achieved academic recognition on the President's List and Dean's List multiple semesters. During his Fall Semester in 2004, Michael studied abroad in Perugia, Italy at The Umbra Institute.
