Merril took the time to understand the details of the case, the people involved, and the reason why a court order for protection was necessary. She is highly disorganized and kept asking for the same information repeatedly. VERY forgetful of information we gave her. She was not thorough and did not use much of the information we gave her that would have worked to our benefit. She is no match for an opposing tough attorney and negotiates terms her client, my husband, could not meet. She clearly had no concept of his finances even though they were in front of her nose. If questioned, she is very rude and she is very expensive. A modification cost us over $15,000.00

I totally agree with ALL negative responses - I had a nervous breakdown during my divorce & she took advantage - rude, overcharged, no empathy, no compassion, BUYER BEWARE - she was a FEMALE for FEMALES- Charged me for her sec’ty phone calls etc. @ $50/hour. - YOU CAN DO BETTER

Currently working as pro se in my divorce case and this attorney is a complete nightmare! She is not acting in the best interest of the children, she is viscous, and rude. She should not have her license to practice law! Especially Family Law!!!

During the consultation, she appeared capable. After I signed the retention agreement this ended. Documents were lost, conversation notes forgotten and to reconstruct such, I was billed a 2nd and 3rd time. Court dates were continuously pushed forward because she scheduled frequent vacations but I was living with the realities of the unresolved issues. Her desire to represent me seemed to run hot and cold but as the paying client, I needed an attorney to represent me regardless of mood. When she did not understand something, she became hostile and aggressive. Personal insults were the norm and I was expected to pay my monthly bill before seeing the itemization. When I made the decision to seek other cousel, she delayed returning my records, either because they were temporarily lost or in a last attempt to gain a few more dollars. I had to contact the office multiple times to schedule the pickup of these documents.

From the beginning, highly unorganized, rude, condescending, always forgetting paperwork where I had to produce for her again. Not helpful with questions, made me feel like a dummy for asking. She always takes phone calls on my billed time. Worked on other cases during my billed court time. Did not work effectively with other attorneys which in turn took longer to get my case moving forward. Ultimately sought alternate competent council who moved my case forward quicker in one month than she did in one year. Has no permanent office help, so always unprepared. Always looking for money before an itemized bill went in mail. Be careful to watch her billing properly. Seemed to always go away on personal business which pushed my court dates out further. Highly dissapointed!! I would never recommend her to anyone.

She became defensive if you asked her any difficult questions. She creates "more hours" by misplacing important documentation that you have already provided. After her recommendation and being guided step by step in filing a contempt, the judge was angry because there was no just cause for the contempt - something she clearly should have known. She dropped the ball on numerous occasions, and the fact that I could settle the problem with the opposing party in 15 minutes when "she chose not to show up to court with me" certainly tells a lot!! I truly feel she is a disappointment and disgrace to attorneys out there trying to do their best for their clients.
