I can't say enough about both Mr. Reed and his Legal Assistant Lea Williams. It was one of the scariest and worst times of my life and this law firm changed that for me in not only an extremely professional manner but with a personalized touch. Both Mr. Reed and Lea are extremely seasoned and knowledgeable. Going through a divorce brings uncertainties and they both gave me answers to my questions back quick and efficiently. Best choice I have made to get my life back on track is hiring The Law Office of Merlin L.Reed. I am so thankful for what Mr. Reed has done for myself and for my family !!
Mr Merlin - is very humble and patient with his clients . He hold excellent knowledge of the legal proceedings . He helped me a lot to understand my divorce case and how I could tackle every situation . He is easy on his appointments and the front staff is also quick in responding on all the correspondence.
Merlin was a great attorney. He really helped to explain each phase of my divorce and was willing to negotiate terms in my settlement and help me ensure that the child custody agreement was fair and equitable. He calmed a lot of my fears by ensuring I had all the information and shared with me several times that simply if I didn't agree to a term I don not need to sign or settle. He continued to help me until both parties were satisfied. He also managed my case well keeping the entire case within the agreed amount of his fee and used our time together wisely, so that I would not be charged additionally. Merlin also helped to keep me out of unnecessary court dates and headaches. The dissolution of my marriage took some time, but I did not need to go to court. I was in the position to possibly have to pay for child support and alimony, but Merlin drafted a proposal where I left some of my equity in the house so I wouldn't have to write my ex a check every month. I also enjoyed knowing that when I didn't have my kids they were in their rooms and safe, rooms I decorated and knew they were happy. This was important to me. Thank you to Merlin and his legal office for making a horrible experience as easy and stress free as possible.
Merlin L. Reed, Jr. did nothing to properly represent me in my divorce. I gave him stacks of documentation on my behalf, but he never reviewed any of it. He was never prepared on any of our court appearances. I provided Mr. Reed with my monthly income and expenses for a 6 month period. None of it was ever presented to the court. He was agreeable to my former husband receiving spousal support plus half of my retirement account, while retaining his retirement account as sole and separate property. I dug through old tax returns and provided Mr. Reed with the evidence that my former husband's retirement account was community property. The end result is a simple divorce over nothing in the way of community assets cost me over $11,000 and took over a year to settle. I am forced to pay spousal support each month, which I cannot afford. I had to sell my home and now renting at a much higher amount. I would not recommend him.
After going through my retainer, Mr. Reed abandoned me the day before my Court date. Do NOT trust this lawyer. He's the kind that gives them a bad name. I am now facing trying to find a new attorney just weeks before a major trial date.
After a prolong trial and having all evidence to maintain my children full custody, he did not follow thru the process and let the time pass to charge more fees after paying almost $12,000.00. I had to start all over with another lawyer
