About
I grew up in Indialantic, Florida, attending Gemini and Indialantic Elementary, Hoover Junior High and Melbourne High School - Go Bulldogs! I played a number of sports growing up, including soccer, softball, volleyball and swimming. I then went to Stetson University on a soccer scholarship. During my time at Stetson, I studied abroad in Nottingham, England and traveled to London, Paris and Munich with school programs. During that time I met my future husband, Martin, who was playing soccer for the Florida Institute of Technology. After graduating from Stetson with my Bachelor's degree (minor in German), I went on to Florida State University for law school. Three years later, I passed the bar exam and began a master's degree at Florida State University. I worked at the Florida House of Representatives in the Fiscal Responsibility Committee during that time and completed the degree while at the Florida State University London campus. Thereafter, I remained in London with my husband and began working with Gilbert, Turner & Coomber in the area of criminal defense. I qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2004 and practiced in the areas of criminal defense, prison law and immigration. In 2010, we decided as a family to move back to Florida where I started working as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida's 18th Judicial Circuit. I was fortunate enough to be part of a wonderful organization at the State Attorney's Office and gained invaluable trial and advocacy experience. I then had the good fortune to be hired by John and Lynda Moser at Moser & Moser, P.A. and practised with that firm for over a year in the areas of family law, criminal defense and immigration. We have a wonderful legal team at Coastal Legal Team, L.L.C. and would love to help you with your legal needs. We take a team effort in our representation and are dedicated to getting the best result possible for our clients.

I couldn’t ask for a better lawyer. Melissa is professional and reliable. She represented me in a very important case. Hey timing and vigilance was close to none. Very aggressive and to the point. If I need a lawyer I know who to go to!
I have been a client of Ms. Peat through an exceptionally long and complicated divorce. I have the highest recommendation for Melissa Peat. Ms. Peat is unfailingly ethical, compassionate, honest, and logical. Ms. Peat is absolutely stellar among attorneys in maintaining good client communication. I have seen Ms. Peat give her all and then some both in court and in preparation for court. When Ms. Peat is your advocate you have her full attention and dedication. Ms. Peat does not substitute impressing the client for real results. Everything Ms. Peat does is substantive and meaningful. Ms. Peat is consistently professional, firm and effective in her dealings with everyone involved in a case. Ms. Peat has unusually well developed knowledge and expert contacts to deal with military/civil service divorce issues. I thoroughly recommend Ms. Peat as valuable guide, helper and advocate through the strange and terrible territory of divorce.
Ms. Peat made the process seamless, while keeping us in the loop throughout the process. She obtained important and relevant information, thus far performing above and beyond what was necessary. Because she looks out for the best interest of her clients, she gets the most fair and just results, for her clients. Ms. Peat will forever be on speed dial, just in case...
Melissa Peat is handling my family case as we speak. She has helped to guide me through the proper steps to ensure a positive outcome. I would highly recommend her for any legal situation.
Spoke to Melissa directly several times that I had something planned in the next two months and asked directly if I would be able to go to said event if I took the probation she said yes there would be no problem. Created a business to curate events where I would need to be out of town or at concert venues that serve alcohol asked specifically if I would be able to do this before agreeing to the probation she said yes. Now on probation the officer says “ I don’t know what your talking about” wasted a bunch ton of money already on the event and alot of money on web development, forming the llc, etc would have continued to Trial if I knew I wasn’t going to be straight up with.
