After fifteen months and tens of thousands of dollars I am in the same spot I was a year ago with my divorce. I am changing lawyers.

Lack of attention to detail explains it all. He arrived to my dissolution with a completely different document that was previously signed by myself and ex-wife. Filled with errors. Extensive clean up work needed after divorce finalized. He never took accountability for his missteps. Communicating with Mr. Exton was very difficult. Emails were NOT returned in a timely manner. Very disappointed. Buyer beware, I guess.

Matthew Exton's services were sought out due to me being falsely accused of an assault I did commit against an ex girlfriend. Due to me being in jail at the time for said accusations, my mother consulted him. He charged a 1500 retainer. I met with him a couple days after I posted bond and explained my situation to him. I gave him my accuser's name and her motive for doing such a thing that she has a history doing to her other ex boyfriend's what she did to me. I also told him that my mother researched the accuser and saw that he had represented her when she was charged with 2 felonies a couple years back. He gave no concern to that possibly being a problem. I asked him over the phone multiple times if he had found anything out about the girl in subsequent phone conversations leading up to my pre trial. It wasn't until AFTER my pre trial that he informed me that he had represented the girl in the past and he would not be able to take my case. On top of him taking my retainer, he also served me another bill afterwards. He did give my case it's due diligence especially after being informed multiple times that there may be a conflict of interest.
