About
Matthew D. Easton is a partner with Easton & Easton, LLP, located in Costa Mesa, California. The firm was orignally founded by Matt's father, Doug Easton, in 1993 after he had spent more than 20 years representing personal injury and medical malpractic plaintiffs. Matt now practices with his father and two brothers, Brian and Travis. Between them, they have more than 65 years of experience representing personal injury and wrongful death plaintiffs.Prior to joining the firm, Matt was awarded a full scholarship to attend Whittier Law School, where he served as Chief Justice for the Moot Court Honors Board and served on both the Trial Advocacy Honors Board and Whittier Law Review before receiving his Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 2009.In the years since then, Matt has represented hundreds of plaintiffs and litigated cases against the State of California, numerous cities, numerous school districts, and countless large corporate entities and other defendants. As a result of his litigation successes in recent years, Matt was selected in 2014 for the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 in California and as a Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star, which is an honor given to only 2.5% of attorneys under the age of 40. Just recently in 2015, Matt was selected for the prestigious Top 10 Under 40 in California Award from the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys. While he is always prepared and ready to take a case to trial if that is what is necessary to obtain just compensation for his clients, Matt has also used his negotiating acumen to arrive at numerous very favorable settlements prior to entering the courtroom. Among his recent successes are a settlement of $2.75 million for the wrongful death of an unmarried 55-year-old man with no economic losses, $1.3 million for a woman who was rear-ended by a drunk driver trying to evade the police, $1.24 million for a woman whose breast reconstruction incision ruptured after a T-bone auto collision, $350,000 for a slip-and-fall at a big box chain store, and a confidential amount for a defective product action involving The Walt Disney Company.Believing in helping others, Matt spent two years in Mexico City on a mission for his church, during which he became fluent in Spanish and developed a love for the people and culture of the Hispanic community. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys camping, rock climbing, skiing, wakeboarding, waterskiiing, mountain biking, golf, volleyball, basketball, and tennis.Matt is married with an amazing 2-year-old son, Ronan. Ronan is already quite the talker, which Matt hopes might be a sign he will be able to continue the Easton litigation legacy in the future. Matt and his wife, Rachel, are also excitedly expecting their second son, Liam, in March 2015.

I was injured in an auto accident in 2009. The other driver admitted fault but his insurance company had stopped all communications with me and with the Statute of Limitations nearing, was attempting to 'run out the clock.' Matthew's firm was recommended to me by a colleague, whose wife had successful representation from Matthew's firm. From our first meeting I trusted Matthew. Even though my case went on for what seemed to be forever (almost 18 months), Matthew kept me informed during the entire legal process. Because of Matthew’s diligence and hard work, I received the maximum settlement from the other driver's insurance policy and the maximum permitted under my own insurance company's under insured policy provision. Matthew exceeded my expectations!
I was thoroughly impressed with the way in which Mr. Easton handled my case-- with a great deal of expertise and care. I felt like he genuinely cared about me and made it a top priority to get me the help I so badly needed after sustaining some serious injuries. I have dealt with attorneys in the past and must say that my experience with Mr. Easton exceeded all expectations. He is intelligent, hard working, and honest-- a gifted lawyer despite having been an attorney for a relatively short period of time. I was very impressed with his work ethic. I highly recommend Mr. Matthew D Easton. He's an excellent attorney.
The Easton's are an amazing family that worked so hard for my little girl, I can't thank them enough. For a case (that I felt so strongly was a slam dunk!) turned into a long drawn out process that required tireless hours from the lawyers and staff at this firm. I know work was even being done while on vacation. They even found a separate issue that created a 'slam dunk' case, that I wasn't even aware of. They have set the bar high, and I would return to them, or send them a referral, anytime it was needed. Personal attention, detailed research, and incredible results. Great law firm to work with.
I had to switch attorneys to The Eastons because my previous attorney was so bad they filed my case under the wrong name.. I thought their was no way to get my medical bills paid from the accident I was in. This time I went to the right attorney because Natt found a way and I got all my Medicals paid for with some going to my pocket. Matt did an excellent job and I would recommend him and his firm to anyone.
If you are looking for high quality, honest, thorough, well educated, and makes sure you are constantly informed- then look no further!! I can say, without a doubt, my experience was amazing. Highly recommend!!!
Matt helped me recover damages against Cal trans and the State of California for a bicycle accident I suffered from their failure to mark a damaged section of roadway on which I crashed and broke my leg. Matt prevailed in this difficult case. I had contacted several other attorneys who would not take on this case, but Matt was eager to go forward for me. I can't thank him and his family enough. He works together with his family comprised of his father, Doug and his brothers; and with this you get the all their expertise and experience working together for you. I highly recommend Matt and his firm.
This is one smart attorney that excells in people skills, organization, and results! I would hire him again in a heartbeat! I just hope I don't need to!
My son is the one who recommended Matt and his firm. I never thought about filing a suit but on my son's recommendation I contacted Matt. I'm glad I did. It turned out that the uneven roadway that caused my fall was improperly built and not according to state codes. I of course had no idea. It was not an open and shut case, in fact it was a difficult case but Matt was able to reach a settlement to my liking. The defendant was a city and they had first class attorneys. It was obvious to me that the opposing attorneys and the arbitration judge who we dealt with, had great respect for Matt and his firm.
