About
"The way that I represent my clients is pretty simple really. I treat my clients the way that I'd want to be treated if I were in their shoes. I listen to my clients carefully and then help them define reasonable goals and expectations. Then I work to the best of my ability to achieve the goals we establish. Sometimes those goals can be achieved outside of the courthouse. Sometimes it is necessary for a Judge to decide the issues. But in every instance, my clients know that they have a hard-working, honest and experienced attorney on their side."

If I make a list of the most important qualities in a family law attorney, Pete McArdle has them all. Ethical. Sound judgement. Good communicator. And one of the smartest men I have ever known. A skilled collaborator, yet able to competently and tenaciously defend his client's position in the courtroom with his comprehensive knowledge of the law and strong desire to obtain the best possible outcome, always keeping the best interests of the children as the focus. He is well-respected in his field and in the community, and has made all the difference in my life and the lives of my children.
Pete has met my expectations and has even exceeded them. From our initial conversation, I could tell that he was experienced and knowledgeable. Pete was able to offer guidance and insight that allowed me to take actionable steps to remedy my situation in the short-term and has followed through every step of the way since then. Go with Pete - you won't regret it.
Pete McArdle represented us with a child custody case. I can’t truly describe how impressed I was in that courtroom. My ex didn’t know what him. His face turned red and he looked like a fool. Attorney McArdle took everything he said and turned it back around on him to where he could hardly speak. The evidence they had against me was a joke after Attorney McArdle was finished with him. His opening statement to the opposing party was, “so have you ever heard the expression, bringing a knife to a gun fight?” Then it was on and he went after him with guns blaring. We had a judge that is typically what they call a 50/50 judge and that is what my ex wanted I believe due to child support reasons. Attorney McArdle beat all odds, in a different county, and my daughter is still with me the majority of the time. I am so grateful for what he did for us. I thought the word failure meant something stops or is not working. Then I became a paramedic and realized if someone is in kidney failure or heart failure that it has not stopped working completely. I looked up the definition of the word and it merely means, not meeting it’s full potential. Attorney McArdle is the opposite of what this means. I believe he was designed to be in a courtroom and is living up to his full potential. He sat there and listened and wrote notes when the opposing party was testifying, then when it was his turn to ask the questions I was amazed at how he turned and twisted every word they said to expose them for the lies they told and downplay the dirt they attempted to throw at me. It was like something out of a movie. I will always want Attorney McArdle with me if I ever have to be in a courtroom again. He is truly amazing at what he does. I was naive enough to believe that truth and justice matters in a courtroom but I have found from previous courtroom experiences this is not the case. It is “whoever has the best attorney wins.“
Pete McArdle is absolutely the best choice for representing you in your family law case. Pete provided me excellent perspective and advice during my marital separation preparations. During a previous separation, I had retained a different attorney so I had experience with another attorney to contrast with my recent work with Pete. My experiences with Pete was vastly different from the previous attorney. Pete has incredible experience and his advice turned out to be exactly correct. And during our separation negotiations, Pete's representation was critical. He provided the perfect argument at the most decisive moments of the negotiation and provided sane resolutions to issues that seemed insurmountable.
Hiring Pete was the best decision I have ever made! The circumstances of my case were out of the ordinary and something he had never encountered before. Before hiring him, I spent three years fighting an ugly custody battle and I had a couple of other attorney's prior to Pete. Within 6 months of hiring him, what I thought would be a never-ending battle was finally put to an end and completely in my favor! Pete was able to reverse mistakes that were made by my previous attorney; He actually responds to emails in a timely manner, which can be difficult for some attorney's to do; He is experienced and communicates effectively. I can't say enough good things about him and I couldn't have asked for anyone better to fight for me in my case. I'm very grateful to have found him!
Pete is one of the most attentive lawyers I have ever used. He truly works for the betterment of helping resolve Divorces without going to court if possible but at the same time he will protect his client 100%
Pete has been working with me for a little more than a year. From the start he has been straight forward, honest and efficient. He makes the complicated mess of things simple and is clearly extremely knowledgeable in what he does. He has always encouraged positive communication between parties during what could be ( and were) very tough and awkward situations. He is fair, always responds very quickly when I have a question and always has my son and my best interest in mind. The entire office creates a comfortable environment and goes out of their way to help in any way they can.
I'm a stay at home dad whose wife decided she wanted a divorce. I was a wreck and needed a lawyer. Pete was highly recommended by another lawyer I know. He has practiced for 20+ yrs in Charlotte so to say he "knows the ropes" is an understatement. He's direct and honest but not in an abrasive, uncaring way. He has been extremely efficient in the way he has handled my case - if he has needed something he's let me know but otherwise there isn't a lot of wasted effort that he asks from you. I certainly have never gotten the impression that he was trying to run up "billable hours" at my expense. In fact the opposite is true - I have always had the feeling he has been trying to save me as much money as possible. He's a good communicator and an excellent writer, which is vital in today's e-mail driven world. I have been very impressed with how he has handled the opposing lawyers and how he has argued on my behalf in court. He's been one step ahead of my wife's lawyers at every turn. Nothing in my case has been settled yet and there are more court appearances to come. And yet, I have complete and utter confidence in Pete, his abilities and in his guidance. The best advice I can give is for you to tell him everything and do everything he says. He's said that the most important factor in choosing a lawyer is finding someone who you "fit" with. Pete's kind of laid back and soft spoken and if you think that's a fit for you then he's your guy. During the worst period of my life hiring Pete was the best thing I could have ever done. Very, very satisfied and impressed.
Mr. McArdle took my case when no other lawyer I spoke with would even consider it, and the outcome was far beyond my expectation. He was honest and patient with my questions, explaining the process to me, and always keeping me informed. He did not waste time and took care of my case quickly. He is kind and caring and has completely shattered any preconceived idea or stereotype of a lawyer that I have ever had. I would gladly recommend Mr. McArdle to anyone I know.
I have worked with Pete since 2013 when my wife decided to divorce and relocate with my kids to a different state. Pete helped me out to settle our marital property outside the Court without a major dispute, waste of time and money, and without the stress of preparing for and being before a Judge. Most importantly, Pete was very proactive to negotiate a custody agreement that allowed me not only to have my children often, but also to keep my boys in North Carolina – all this also accomplished outside the Court room. Unfortunately, a few months later, my ex-wife filed a motion with the Court to again try to take my boys far away from me. I was terrified. This time we did go to Court. Pete cared about my children and my case. He was very thoughtful and, with Tamara, his paralegal, prepared for Court as I expected. In Court, Pete was very aggressive defending the best interest of my kids – my children are in town today. Pete is very practical and will speak honestly to you. You can’t go wrong with him.
