Martin did me right. I have to admit that I worked with him when he was paying his way through law school and I am a bit biased. I find him to be a bit brutally honest and a no BS kinda guy. He represented me in a civil case and was effective. If i need a lawyer in the future, he's the guy I'll call.
I retained Mr. Ulferts in 2009 in order to obtain sole custody of my daughter after I wasted several thousands of dollars on an attorney that was just talk. After I retained Mr. Ulferts my daughter was abused and a CHINS case was opened and she remained in my care. Throughout the CHINS case which lasted a little over a year and a half Mr. Ulferts not only kept me very informed of what would come next in the process but was there to answer any questions or concerns that I had. Despite the fact that it was very hard for me to deal with certain things that would happen during a CHINS case Mr. Ulferts always was a straight shooter. At no point did he ever give me false hopes. No matter if I liked what he had to say he always gave me the truth and was very blunt. This was very important to me because the truth and reality is something that can be hard to handle but I was never blind sided by something, I was prepared and ready to handle it. Mr. Ulferts always treated me with respect. In the end Mr. Ulferts helped me obtain sole custody of my daughter. I couldn't be happier with Mr. Ulferts professionalism, compassion, respect, honest, and sincerity. I would recommend Mr. Ulferts to anyone that I know, that doesn't want a lawyer who will just take their money, tell them what they want to hear instead of the truth no matter good or bad, and will treat you with respect. To this day Mr. Ulferts is still retained as my attorney and will contuine to be and I have referred him to several people.
Martin talked the talk to get me to retain him. I used him for relocation issues with my son. My son's mom was moving out of state and I did not want my son to move. He advised me to make an agreement and said that he would write it up. He then let the other attorney write the agreement but told me he would thoroughly go over it and I would get to see it before it was signed. He did briefly talk to me about what was in it and about somethings her attorney added in that we had not agreed on. He then signed it without me seeing it and sent me a copy with a bill. The agreement had paragraphs that I had not agreed upon. When I first talked to him about it he gave me info that contradicted what the agreement said. The next time it was brought up he told me I had agreed to everything that was in the agreement, that I was not communicating effectively with him, he was going to withdraw from representing me, and that I needed to find another attorney. I would advise against using this attorney.
