Martha (“Meg”) practices estate planning, charitable giving and estate and trust administration. Her representation includes the preparation of wills and trusts and the related specialties of planning for disabled/incapacitated family members, asset protection, life insurance, retirement and family real estate planning. She also specializes in litigation in these areas. Meg has developed an expertise in business succession planning, including the use of limited liability companies, buy–sell agreements and ESOPs to accomplish client objectives. What sets Meg apart from her peers is her ability to clearly explain complicated matters and simplify decision points, no matter how complex the situation. She also has uncanny insight into family and organizational dynamics. For these reasons, she is often consulted by beneficiaries and fiduciaries to remedy faulty estate plans and trusts.Meg is a recognized specialist in charitable giving and non–profit governance. She assists clients in implementing significant charitable giving plans, including the formation and operation of private family foundations, public charities and the creative use of donor advised funds. Because she served as the Managing Director of the John T. Gorman Foundation for 10 years before the Foundation hired full time staff, she has a deep operational understanding of the philanthropic and non–profit sectors.

I had an initial consultation with Meg this morning, and I could not be more pleased. She is honest and direct, explains things thoroughly and respectfully, and helped me plan the first steps towards a resolution for my probate concerns. She cited new local laws to help my cause (proving that she stays up-to-date) and was familiar with the opposing firm's members (she has a solid local reputation and network). I feel very confident in Meg's skills as a Maine Estate Attorney, and would highly recommend her services.
