For many years I have had to put up with the "neighbors from hell". They were consistently unfriendly and hostile to us. At one point, regarding an ongoing fence dispute , We both finally "lost it" and responded with all sorts of crude language, and I called the Sheriff and filed for a Temporary Restraining Order. My first advice to anyone who has a problem with their neighbors is DO NOT file for a Restraining Order, unless they can be proven to be a physical threat and meet the heavy criteria involved in this order. Also, be aware that the person you file upon can "cross file" and then they are asking for a restraining order against you. That is what happened in my case and it was very upsetting. I found Mark's phone number on line and called him. He immediately put my mind at ease, explaining and assuring me of my options and how to proceed. He understood, typically, when a person reaches out for legal help they are emotionally battered and in great need of someone to "vent" to. Someone who can sort out the emotional pain from what is the plain legal aspects of our problem. He was able to put my mind at ease with one phone call, in which he generously gave me free of charge until I decided to hire him. I knew he was not an "ambulance chaser" the moment he laid it on the line about how costly and for the most part unsuccessful civil lawsuits can be. He helped me to put into perspective that I do NOT want to go there if I can avoid it. For a very reasonable fee Mark took all of my Court Documents, Photos and Tons of "Evidence" by e-mail attachment and reviewed it. He then gave me his professional opinion on to how to proceed and the possible outcome (s). I then hired him (once again all online) at his hourly rate. He faithfully and kindly reviewed all my paperwork and reviewed events as they unfolded towards the hearing date set by the Court. He provided more than legal advice, he provided a much needed "shoulder to cry on" . He was genuine in his concern and offered encouragement to for me to move forward with confidence. He reviewed and "fixed" all my documents to represent myself with proper grammar and favorable viewing by the Court. I have a deep seated respect and fear of the Law. It was painful in the extreme to put myself before a legal proceeding, especially knowing that I was not blameless (its takes two to quarrel) so I would have do defend my actions. The outcome of the hearing was WE WON HANDS DOWN! Total victory and satisfaction. The other party was humiliated by, in part, my advantage to having legal counsel and advice on how to proceed. Remember in my case at least, this whole unfortunate, sad and depressing episode could have been avoided had I not acted in haste. If you are unable to reason with your neighbors most likely that will never change, just suck it up and walk away. However, if you find your self up to your neck in legal proceedings or think you need an attorney I suggest you call Mark! I pretty much "vet" folks I hire from a gut feeling and I trusted him immediately. As a side note, he is also GLBT friendly if that is important to you and or has a bearing on your case. Although that fact had nothing to do with my case, it happened to come up in the course of sharing, I feel more comfortable with folks who are supportive of civil rights for all! Just remember, if you yourself are the "neighbor from hell" and you have no defense to offer for being a "hateful and bad person" take a look at yourself before you engage in a fight that you cannot possibly win. I feel very lucky and quite smug in fact that I was successful and I hope this review can help you if you find yourself in a similar situation. Sincerely One Happy Client.
