For me Marks work was efficient, effective and complete. More then happy to refer him.

I highly recommend Mark Hessel. He is more of a generalist, and so before you turn to a more specialized lawyer, you might want to try his services. He has a lot of common sense and experience, and seeks a way to resolve legal issues the least complicated way possible, and for the least expense. That might turn out to be just what you need. He helped us get out of a tricky real estate situation very simply, with a strongly-worded letter, and with drafting a legal document for a relative who was in a difficult situation. And his rates were very reasonable.

My family and I've worked with Mark for nearly 20 years and what is easily said is that he is a genuine, sincere, trustworthy, honest, and interested lawyer. You never feel rushed with Mark nor do you feel every tick of the second hand on your watch coming out of your pocket. He loves what he does and it shows. His billings are so reasonable and affordable. We have used him for title and settlement services as well as business contracts.

I sought his help which he told me will be free consultation. Then after consultation he asked him to pay $400. stating his hourly fee is $275/hour. Then he told he cannot appear in the court. I still gave him $400 as check. Then he sent a bill for more than $1200 to pay him as he contacted my opposite party over phone. Also, he look into law books for every question we ask before he can tell the answer. Then he bill for the time and asking you to Pay. Strongly NOT RECOMMENDED.

Mark Hessel failed to check for signatures on every page of my parent's will that he prepared for us, which is pretty much Law School 101. The real estate lawyer we subsequently retained had to get a special ruling for us so the will could be admitted to court after my parent died a few months later. I was very disappointed that when I contacted Mark, not only did not refund our fee, he also placed the blame on us, the clients, for not proofreading! How inappropriate and unprofessional. I've since checked with lawyer friends and they all were surprised at (1) the original lapse (2) how he handled it. I would also add that Mark is a compulsive talker though to be strictly fair he doesn't charge for all his long-winded and pointless stories. But time is money for a lot of us, not him!

Mark can be very efficient and helpful until he becomes unresponsive and lazy in critical moments. We have worked with Mark over 20 years. Most of the deals went smoothly. However, we have lost over hundred thousand dollars because Mark has neglected to do a routine task and prepare simple documents. Once Mark realized his mistake, it was impossible to reach him for the next two months. Sadly, we have to take our business elsewhere.

I BELIEVE MARK HESSEL, of 11501 Georgia Ave., Silver Springs, MD, TO BE AN UNTRUSTWORTHY LAWYER, BECAUSE: During the month of June 2013, my brother died. He is survived by me, a sister and two nieces- his only surviving heirs. While my brother was on his death bed, in John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Mr. Hessel drafted a will for my brother. As one of my brother's surviving heirs, I requested of Mr. Hessel, a copy of my brother's will and Mr. Hessel refused that request. Repeatedly, I communicated with Mr. Hessel over a period of weeks, and to my several phone calls [301 949 8364] and emails [hessellaw@hotmail.com], Mr. Hessel refused to even respond. As a result, my brother's heirs are unable to determine what happened to his estate- was there undue influence or inheritance fraud. It is believed he had substantial assets abroad and within the U.S. As a direct result of Mr. Hessel's failure of his duty as a lawyer, my brother's heirs are unable to determine what influence was placed upon my brother during his final weeks in preparation of the will drafted by Mr. Hessel. I recommend a boycott of Mr. Hessel.
