About

Background Mr. Hampton is an Arkansas native born and raised in the Natural State. His mother was a school teacher for 32 years, and his father was Deputy Director for the Office of Economic Opportunity for the State of Arkansas. Both had a hand in developing Mr. Hampton’s character and his use of common sense in practicing law. Mark has developed a keen approach to evaluating each case on its own facts and circumstances. Each case is unique and must be evaluated on its merits. Each person has their own unique path they walked to get them where they find themselves. From investigations involving the President of the United States down to misdemeanor drug offenses, Mark takes pride in doing the best job he can for each client.Areas of Practice Drug Offenses:  Mark has had experience in the last 26 years of representing hundreds of clients in both federal and state drug cases; from major drug conspiracies to misdemeanor marijuana charges.  Mark evaluates each case of its own merits. Most of the time, if a drug case can be attacked it will be based upon an unlawful search and seizure of the drugs involved. If it appears that the search and seizure is illegal, Mark will attack those issues vigorously. On the other hand, should the case not provide such a helpful defense, Mark has significant experience in attempting to minimize the punishment for the offense in question. White Collar Crime:  Mark has had a significant number of federal and state cases involving wire fraud, mail fraud, bribery, extortion, and money laundering. These cases generally require complex analysis of the scheme or conspiracy in question. With the aid of his very experienced paralegal, Mark can analyze the case against you and properly evaluate the potential success of a trial. On the other hand, he will rely on his experience and understanding of the law to work out a successfully plea if a jury trial or bench trial is not an opinion. Homicide, Battery Offenses:  Mark has had several significant trials involving homicide, kidnapping and battery charges. These cases require a significant amount of investigation and critical evaluation of any and all forensic evidence which may be offered from the prosecution. Mark has an unlimited amount of affiliations with forensic experts, polygraph examiners, and criminal profilers to assure the best possible defense in these situations.Parole Release:  Mark has had significant success in a few cases were individuals have applied for and received executive clemency and/or time cuts on their parole. Although these are difficult situations and are clearly discretionary with the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Mark has been able to properly prepare the argument to persuade the parole board and the governor’s office to release individuals early from their expected parole eligibility date.Appeals and Post-Conviction Relief both in Federal and State Courts: Mark does not actively pursue these matters. However, his office is affiliated with one of the finest appellant attorneys in the state, Professor J. T. Sullivan. Professor Sullivan has had tremendous success with direct appeals and post-conviction relief both in state and federal proceedings. Professor Sullivan experiences spans five different states in both federal and state appeals. Additionally, Professor Sullivan has successfully argued cases before the United States Supreme Court.

Mark Hampton was referred to me by a former Arkansas Supreme Court Justice who had nothing but good things to say about his work ethic, but also his character. Mr. Hampton took on my extremely complicated case and worked incredible hard on it. He we extremely fair with his billing and determined the perfect strategy in defending me--even in a very one-side court. I offer my highest recommendation for Mr. Hampton as not only capable, but caring. He gets an A+ rating.

Mark Hampton has become the best criminal defense attorney in Arkansas and is the standard by which all others are currently judged. A rare combination of intellect, street smarts and a fierce competitive edge, Mark defends with a vigor and compassion largely unseen in today's courthouse. He is a skillful pre-trial negotiator, masterful courtroom strategist and his ability to bond with a jury is a thing of beauty. He represented me when my life and freedom were on the line, negative publicity rampant and initially retained counsel inept and uninterested. He took over and stuck with me, never gave up even when my spirits were at their lowest and was a dear friend when all was said and done. Mark is a throwback to the days when lawyers were true professionals and respected members of their communities; an advocate willing to take on any cause regardless of the consequences he might suffer personally. Atticus Finch comes to mind and Mr. Hampton is more than worthy of the comparison. Perry Mason, F. Lee Bailey, Mark Hampton-each in his time unquestionably the best of the best.

Mark has represented me twice. Once in 2006 and recently in 2017. Both times Marks expertise has saved me from being incarcerated and being taken away from my family. Thank you again Mark. You are the best of the best for sure. Legal strength when you need it! For sure!

Mark actually listened to what I had to say, never tried to cut me off or prejudge my case, was willing to look at any material I brought to support my position.. absorbed what my situation was.. I must have talked to 6 or 7 attorneys in the last few months... most are only interested in telling you what their fee's will be, not what they think they can do for you.. What a breath of fresh air. Open and candid, not any sign of ego, so down to earth. Definitely talk to this man before you make a decision on hiring an attorney, wish I had of found him 8 months ago.

I invented and patented a fitness product that had worldwide distribution. A distributor in Pennsylvania took $100,000 worth of product, ignored its contractural obligations and held the inventory hostage essentially daring me to sue. I didn't know anyone in a state more than 1,000 miles from home but found my way to Mr. Hampton through the recommendation of another attorney. He took up my cause, found local counsel to assist him and move for his admission to the federal court in Philadelphia, showed a bunch of elite grey suits from the east coast that he was neither impressed or intimidated by their inflated egos and phony pedigrees and not only got them to back off but my equipment returned. Total vindication and victory.

I have known Mark for about a quarter of a century. During that time he has become a good friend. I also refer potential clients to him. I do so in large part because I get such strong thanks and gratitude from those who ultimately selct Mark as their attorney. I have often been told that Mark is different than most lawyers. He seems to really care about his clients. He takes time with them. He accepts calls 24/7 from folks who are in a bind and want to speak with someone, their lawyer. Several years ago I referred a large national group to Mark who were seeking counsel. At the time there was a possibility of criminal charges along with the numerous civil actions. Once Mark got involved things began to get better. It was this case that convinced me that Mark has a special touch, that Mark is just plain good as an attorney. Now I regularly sends friends to him if they need a good lawyer, if they need someone who will fight for them. That's what he does. He fights for his clients every day. Because of this, because he actually cares about his clients, I will continue to recommend Mark as long as he maintains his practice. Several years ago I read an interesting line supposedly written by famed attorney Melvin Belli, it goes, "A lawyer's performance in the courtroom is responsible for about 25 percent of the outcome; the remaining 75 percent depends on the facts." My retort is that Mr Belli never met Mark Hampton. If he had done so he might have adjusted his ratios a bit. God Bless Mark Hampton
