Mark has been helpful with several situations that have come up in my property managment business. He listens and finds solutions.
Mark Fenton was a pleasure to work with. He is very knowledgeable and kept good communication a long the Process. I will not hesitate to call The Fenton Firm again, and I will recommend you to anyone that needs your services.
Mark Fenton completed each and every task quickly and in a very professional manner. He is very experienced and did what needs to be done and knows the right people to assist with the facilitation of the project. I was more than satisfied with the job Mr. Fenton did for me.
I called Mr Fenton because I had worked more than 200 hours for a client who did not want to pay me for my services. He didn't give me any real advice but said he needed to see the contracts and asked if they signed the contacts, they had. After another month dealing with the clients, I filed a small claims case, had the clients served and set a court date. I contacted Mr Fenton again when they would not settle and he said he wanted a $1500 retainer and for me to send over the documents. Mediation was mandatory and the next step b4 the 1st hearing, he said he would set Mediation with someone that worked for his office before. I signed the agreement with his office sent the $1500 retainer and the files. After I sent the payment to his office, his wife, Office Admin, set an appointment and I called Mr Fenton at the appointed time. He claimed he didn't know about it and reset it for the following week, a zoom appointment to go over the complaint. When I reached out to him for the Zoom appointment he was driving and rushed, had not read the complaint and again missed the appointment. He said he could tell I was upset, would read the complaint and we set an appointment for later the same day. Finally, he read the complaint, understood the dynamics and stated he had still not set Mediation. I stressed, I wanted Mediation done before our 1st hearing in a few weeks and I would set it myself. I reached out to Mediators on the Court's website and when one got back to me I set it, paid the fee and notified all parties including Mr Fenton, who I never heard from and he did not attend Mediation. Thereafter, my clients and I continued to discuss a settlement and after a few days I reached out to Mr Fenton, asked him why he didn't bother showing up at Mediation, he gave some lame excuse and I let him know I was working on a settlement with my clients. I asked him how much my bill was at that point, he said 1 hour $250. I said ok, do NOT do anything else on my file I would reach out to him the following day and let him know if my clients and I reach an agreement. The following day my clients and I came to an agreement, I reached out to Mr Fenton as promised and let him know. He now claimed I owed him $500, that he had done 1 hours worth of work amending the complaint. I did not agree with Mr Fenton and requested my full refund back minus the $250 as discussed the previous day. I stressed to Mr Fenton that I hired him because his 5 star google review, would rate him myself and would report him to the Colorado Bar Association. He twisted it making it about threats and harassment instead of doing the right thing. After claiming harassment he immediately text 2 times and called once. He also told me "Am I sure I am not the problem." If I was the problem, I assure you my clients would not have settled the case with me. Mr Fenton wants me to believe that after he failed to keep 2 appointments with me, failed to set or attend Mediation on my behalf that suddenly he did an hour's worth of work to Amend a Complaint I did not need Amended and after I specifically asked him not to do any work on my file until further notice the following day. Right, he had the opportunity to earn the retainer I paid him but refused to work for it and wont return it either. In addition I believe the $250 he claimed he earned for an hours work was liberal since he has a 30 minute free consultation posted online and spoke under 45 min on the phone in addition to the few minutes it should have took to read my complaint. Although he claimed that too was written so terrible he couldn't read it in 20 minutes. I pointed out to him he has a law degree & I do not yet my clients and I both could easily read it in less than 10. It appeared to me Mr Fenton was coming up with every excuse, blame and shame he could think of to keep a claim to the retainer. Mr Fenton did not send me an invoice or log of time spent and to my knowledge did not log his time.
