About Mark Coulter Mark T. Coulter is an experienced Pittsburgh attorney with an extensive record of success solving his client’s legal issues, with a focus of interest inEstate Planning and Elder Law issues. During his 17 years as an attorney, he has represented thousands of clients in dozens of states in need of assistance with their legal problems. He currently serves as the Director of the Estate Planning Centers at the Coulter Law Offices, based in Monroeville, PA, and his primary focus is to help families in the greater Pittsburgh area avoid probate, protect their assets, and provide for the security of their loved ones with a well-crafted estate plan. In addition to providing timely and high quality legal services, Mr. Coulter is dedicated to educating local families and conducts seminars for the Pittsburgh community about important estate planning issues and pitfalls to avoid. Experience Mr. Coulter was granted admission to the legal bar of multiple states based upon successfully passing the bar examination administered in each jurisdiction, including Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and Indiana. Admission by reciprocity was granted in West Virginia. Currently, Mr. Coulter has retained an active status for his Pennsylvania admission having placed his Florida and New York licenses on inactive status, and having resigned from the West Virginia and Indiana bars as he no longer represents clients in those states (IN and WV call that 'suspended' status, however that indicates I suspended my license, not that I was suspended for misconduct). Mr. Coulter was honored to be granted admission to the esteemed Bar of the United States Supreme Court in 2002. He has also been admitted to practice before The United States Courts of Appeals, the last level of appeal before the United States Supreme Court, covering 14 states. He was inducted as a Life Member of the National Registry of Who’s Who in 2001. Includes Living Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Letters of Instruction, Wills, Trusts, Life Insurance, Living Wills, Long Term Care Insurance, Medicaid nursing home planning, Probate and more. Education Mr. Coulter received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988, and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Duquesne University School of Law in 1993, with Honors. Mr. Coulter was selected as a published member of the Duquesne Law Review, an honor reserved for legal scholars performing at the highest level. Personal Mr. Coulter has been married for over 25 years with 6 children. He and his family live in Monroeville Pennsylvania, where he enjoys spending time with his family, landscaping, researching, writing and attempting to carry his share of the housework. He is a lifelong resident of the Pittsburgh area, having been raised in Wexford, PA before moving to Monroeville to raise his family 20 years ago.

Mr. Coulter was very good at asking probing questions and listening to my Dad's overall goals. He was able to clearly articulate answers to our questions and concerns and helped us feel at ease with the process. By visually using a flow chart to map out the final strategies, Dad was able to fully understand and feel confident about the plan and put it into action.
Being a practioner in the financial services industry, I have had much experience working with "estate" planning attornies. Mark goes the extra mile to handcraft a plan that is specific and pertinent to "your" needs, is far from boilerplate, and is professionally delivered and acted upon. As much as this is to be expected from any practicing attorney, this is far from the reality in my experience. Many lawyers I have encountered are simply paper product pushers at best on the one hand, or simply not educated enough to render proper estate planning advice, even though they hold themselves out to be proficient. Mark is very patient, knowledgeable, and cares about his craft. If you are looking for someone who will get the job done right the first time, before you die, I would highly recommend Mark.

He breaks down complex subjects into plain speak that makes it easy understand in order to make sound decisions. I've worked with many professionals in my time. He by far, is one of the very best. It had been well over 2 yrs since the death of my mother and no settlement was made. Granted Covid delayed it about 6 months but PA Dept of Rev approved everything in Sept 2020. I posted my concern here in mid May and Attorney Coulter answered in an intelligent and meaningful way which made me feel I would be in safe hands to contact his office. (Previously contacted another probate atty who was extremely sub par and out of desperation decided to pose my concern to Avvo which thankfully lead me to Attorney Coulter). He immediately got results and a settlement statement was drawn the following week. The ‘opposing’ attorney did not answer my four calls in April nor did the executor answer my email requesting an update. Being from out of state and not having any contacts to guide me, I am truly grateful to Avvo and the attorneys who responded. But should you be in the same predicament with that feeling that you will never see your rightful inheritance, I urge you to contact Attorney Coulter. I received my disbursement this week so the entire process took about 40 days. Without Attorney Coulter, I truly believe I would not have received my inheritance, it was that bad.
My wife and I have used several attorneys and law firms in the past. Therefore, we feel we have a base of comparison. Most of our experiences were adequate. Although we could have returned to one of two law firms that have Estate Planning Attorneys, we decided to hire The Coulter Law Group in 2013 to address our Estate Planning after attending Mark's seminar. We have not only found Mark very professional with our Estate Planning but also learned he practices Elder Law which has also come into play with my eighty-eight year old father-in-law.
