Founder and Executive Director of Immigrant Justice Idaho (IJI), previously the principal attorney at Andrade Legal, a boutique immigration law firm in Boise, Idaho.In October of 2018, Immigrant Justice Idaho became Idaho’s only agency recognized by the Department of Justice as both a Free Legal Service Provider and Referral Service. IJI fills a colossal gap in Idaho’s immigration legal services available to low income Idahoans: free or low cost removal (deportation) defense. IJI consults with individuals called to immigration court, and represents individuals in immigration court through attorneys, accredited representatives and volunteers. IJI provides attorneys with local, affordable training to broaden the immigration bar competency and provide young and aspiring immigration attorneys training that can be cost prohibitive due to travel, lodging, and registration costs.Ms. Andrade is experienced in a variety of immigration cases, including removal defense, family-based immigration, employer sanctions and federal litigation, as well as criminal defense and post-conviction matters requiring immigration law expertise and civil rights litigation affecting the non-citizen populations of Idaho. She advises criminal defense attorneys regarding immigration consequences of convictions for non-citizens, and lectures on a variety of immigration topics before local and national audiences of lawyers, businesses and the judiciary.At IJI, Ms. Andrade will continue to work with community partners as did Andrade Legal, in advocating for just and humane immigration reform and educate colleagues around immigration law and policy, and deliver direct services to rural non-citizen communities through community outreach trips throughout Idaho and Eastern Oregon. IJI enjoys the support of community partners such as the ACLU of Idaho, the Idaho Community Council, the International Rescue Committee and the Idaho Catholic Charities Immigration Program and the University of Idaho Immigration Law Clinic.Ms. Andrade maintains a private office, handling a very limited caseload.
